TITLE: Fusing diagrams of the ternary systems: lithium, magnesium,
strontium, and barium fluorides

TEXT: In the present paper, the systematic examination of the interaction
between alkali fluorides and fluorides of alkaline earths was continued~
The systems Li, Mg, SrjjF and Li, Ba, Sr11F were studied. Examinations were
conducted visually in a platinum crucible with a platinum stirrer at
various temperatures. The temperature was measured with a Pt/Pt - Rh
thermocouple. The crystallization surface of the system Li, Mg, Sr!'F was
studied on 10 internal sections. The crystallization fields of the three
components meet in the eutectic point corresponding to 6460C and 36% Li F
25~6 SrF 2' and "% MgF2 - The L'2P2 field covers the smallest area due 2 2~
to its low melting point, but penetrates deeply into the fields of the
other two components. The crystallization surface of the system Li, Ba7
SAIF was also studied on 10 internal sections. It consists of an Li2F2

field, Li 2F2' 2BaF field, and that of continuous solid barium fluoride -
strontium fluoride solutions. Eutectic point: 721 OC, 21% SrF 2, 53% Li 2F2'

26% BaF2' Transition point: 78OPC, 24% SrF 2P 43% Li2P29 33% BaF 3' The
extremely low melting point of the eutectic mixture of the system Li, 11g;
Sr1JF (646009 allows the latter to be used as flux for welding nonferrous
metals. The system Li, Ca, SrPF was not studied. The authors assume
the eutectic mixture to melt below 7000C~ Among others,a paper by A G

Fractures of the acetabulum are a comparatively rare injury. Becaus- of the affi-
cult reduction and development of arthrosis after healing they require good surgi-
cal care if the decision between conservative and operative treatment is very un-
certain. During the 7 yr. between 1945 and 1952 altogether 32 fractures of the ace-
tabulum were treated at the Ist Surgical Clinic in Prague. From the point of view
of their mechanism and especially with regard to therapeutic needs they are di-
vided into- fissures and fractures of the floor of the acetabulum alofig the lines
of the vinatomical union of the pelvic bones without dislocation (6), crushed frac-
tures of the floor of the acetabulum without dislocation of the head of the femur
(7). fractures of the marginE of the acetabulum with luxation of the femoral head
(7), central luxation (12). All injuries were treated conservatively. A description

Abstract The irreversible decolorization-ff methyl orr-ng(.,, or
methyl red, on titration of SO with KBr03 takes place,
depending upon the conditions, frequently before or after
the equivalence point. With an HC1 concentration of 6-10%
the decolorization occurs prior to the point of equivalen-
ce and-fhis can be obviated by addition of KBr (less than
3 - 10 14/liter). Study of the effect of acidity, con-
centration of indicators, and also of KBr031 was carried
out by photocolorimetric measurements of extinction of
