Abstract According to data collecte,' for nany years by experinental
stationsof wooded districts of UkrSSR, yellow ard narrow-
bladed one-year lupines,, sarradilla and perennial lupine
are the best soil enrichors, Every hectare of lupine crop
is equal in fertilizing action to 30 - 40 t of manure.
A method of application of lupine together with peat for
fallow fieldsis offered* Peat is brought in the winter
oil the plowed black-follow, it la strawn in the sprina
over the field and then harrowed. The field in cultivated
and.harroved before 3,upine sowing. When the green mass of

.TITLE: 'A method of optical compensation for linear shift of the image
in vertical-panoramic photography

TEXT: The author proposes a theoretical solution to the problem of optically
compensating for the linear shift of the Image in vertical panoramic
AqShChAFA) panoramic camera with a focal-plane
photography, when an t L
shutter is used and t b'Nirphotcs are made by central projection on to a cY-
lindrical surface. The advantage of this camera is that, although relative-
ly small, it can be used to obtain panoramic airphotos with a large angle of
view (up to 1800) even with a narrow-angle long-focus lens (2A < 250, f'>400
mm). This is achieved by the use of a focal-plane shutter and by the rota-
tion of the camera about the panning axis. As this article is concerned
with developing a method of compensating for the linear shift of the image,

the question of the accuracy of such a-compensation is nct dealt with. The
linear shift of the image2 caused by the high speed motion of the aircraft,
deteriorates the resolving power and the-interpretation qualities of the air-
photo. The simplest way of compensating this is to deflect the pencil of
image rays by a mirror rotated at an angular speed corresponding to the
speed of displacement of definite points on the image. The mirror r-tates
about its axis -parallel to the-Tilm and.- perpendicularly to the direction of
image displacement. The author deve!Qlas a series of formulas for calculating
the correlation between the angular speed of the rotating mirror and the
speed of the panning operation, -and describes the compensation unit, which
automatically turns the mirror, by the necessary angles in accordance with thr-
speed;and the height of the aircraft-and. the-d-efleat-Jon angle of the image
rays in the plane perpendicular to the,line of flight of the air-.raft, The
unit is mounted on -the.PShChAFA namexa. -The kinematic system of the camera

sector 49, which is rigidly coupled with the axis II-II of the mirror. The
rotation of the sector U)causes the mirror to rotate through definite angles

by the rotation of the sine-shaped cam e). A given magnitude of this angle
corresponds to a definite lifting of the cam at a corresponding position of
the optical axis of.the camera. As the profile of the cam(5)depends on the
turn angle of the camera its angular rotation speed is equal to the angular
