Izvestiya. Geodeziya i aero- fotosOlyemka, no. 31 1961, 127-138 TEXT: The author proposes a theoretical solution to the problem of optically compensating for the linear shift of the Image in vertical panoramic AqShChAFA) panoramic camera with a focal-plane photography, when an t L shutter is used and t b'Nirphotcs are made by central projection on to a cY- lindrical surface. The advantage of this camera is that, although relative- ly small, it can be used to obtain panoramic airphotos with a large angle of view (up to 1800) even with a narrow-angle long-focus lens (2A < 250, f'>400 mm). This is achieved by the use of a focal-plane shutter and by the rota- tion of the camera about the panning axis. As this article is concerned with developing a method of compensating for the linear shift of the image, Card 1/5 27 S/15071/000/003/002/002 A method of optical compensation... i054/DI12 the question of the accuracy of such a-compensation is nct dealt with. The linear shift of the image2 caused by the high speed motion of the aircraft, deteriorates the resolving power and the-interpretation qualities of the air- photo. The simplest way of compensating this is to deflect the pencil of image rays by a mirror rotated at an angular speed corresponding to the speed of displacement of definite points on the image. The mirror r-tates about its axis -parallel to the-Tilm and.- perpendicularly to the direction of image displacement. The author deve!Qlas a series of formulas for calculating the correlation between the angular speed of the rotating mirror and the speed of the panning operation, -and describes the compensation unit, which automatically turns the mirror, by the necessary angles in accordance with thr- speed;and the height of the aircraft-and. the-d-efleat-Jon angle of the image rays in the plane perpendicular to the, line of flight of the air-.raft, The unit is mounted on -the.PShChAFA namexa. -The kinematic system of the camera and compensatlicn unit is shown in rig-.42 in which the electric motor(1~5' ~4, the measuring drum (22) which pulls the film T0113 (16" and ~4~ the roller (Ij film$ the entire driving gear ~20Y P2 (23)and ~~, the worm (2~, the slotted cassette 08)and the objective(29)are coupled with the rotating body ~5)of the camera, which is placed in a stationary body I and rotates on roller -bearings.. 'When the camera rotates about the axis I-Ithe bevel gear(2)runs around the bevel gaar(3)and produces a Totaty motion which is transmitted to the axle of the sine-shaped cam 5 by the spur gears(121 11, 91 81 ~, under the pres- sure of the s.pring(14)the rod aO)kinematically contacts the cam(5)which- im- r4-S pa t, a reciprocal*motion to the rod(IO). This rod is engaged with the sector 49, which is rigidly coupled with the axis II-II of the mirror. The rotation of the sector U)causes the mirror to rotate through definite angles in relation to the axi Is 11-1-1. The magnitudes of these angles are regulated by the rotation of the sine-shaped cam e). A given magnitude of this angle corresponds to a definite lifting of the cam at a corresponding position of the optical axis of.the camera. As the profile of the cam(5)depends on the turn angle of the camera its angular rotation speed is equal to the angular rotation speed of the camera. Particular emphasis is placed an tactical training, which is considered to be the second weapon of the aviator," and is under the constant supervision of the staff, The author streSBeS the need to dispel the impression that the staff is concerned wit planning alone, - yet adrYjItB that its activities have not always been sufficiently comprehensive. Concrete examples of staff involvement in flight and tactical train- ing in the author's unit are presented. Mention is made of improvements in training resulting from more direct participation of staff members in the supervision and planning of training activities. The author concludes that staff officers help the command to solve problems of training and military preparedness in units. Card 11 SUB CODE 05,151SUBM DATE: none/ MHOA, lu.A.; IAGODKEI, S.I.
