A13STRACT: The authors describe some of the results of a systematic study-carried out
at--the Laboratoriya-khimii polbrnerov I ta: (L~aboratory of Polymer
-Tashkentskogo gosuniversite
Chemistry,- Tashkent Stat6 University) to determine the optimal conditions for the pro-
-duction of polyvinylfluoride. In this study, the reaction behveen acetylene and anhydrous
hydrogen fluoride was carried out in the gas phase at IOD-120C in the presence of mercury
and barium chlorides absorbed on activated charcoal. The reaction mixture was cooled
mith the aid of dry ice to - 78C, and the monomer which condensed at this temperature
i was pla(;ed into glass ampules and irradiated with various doses of X-rays from C060.

yielding epresence of benzoyl peroxide accelerated the polymerization
at radiation doses of 3-~S x 3-ODr, yielding solid products, which indicates that this reaction
proceeds by a radical mechanism.: - Orig. art has: 1 table.
