aerodynamic and tebhnical qualities of an airplane.
Some figures are given. The influence of the speed of
the plane is discussed. A de-icing.device utilizing the
hot air of the compressor is circumstantially described.
The article contains also a series of suggestions
addressed to the pilots, as to how to avoid the icing.

!ABSTRACT: From 1962 to 1964 the Institute of Oceanology AN SSSR investigated the
1hydrodynamics of shallow coastal areas in the Baltic Sea to determine the nature of
surface wave transformation during different disturbance stages, to measure the angle
;of an approaching wave and to study the distribution of wave pressures and speeds in
!relation to an underwater slope. Investigations were carried out with the use of wave!
!pressuro recorders, wave recorders, wave velocity recorders, current motors, turbidity!

TEXT: Cuprous 8xide was prepared from purified-oopper and atmospheric
-oxygen at 1,030,C.-The orystal-surfaces were etohe4, and a thin layer of
radioactive AgI10 was eleatrolytioallg applied to athem. The diffusion of
silver into ouproue oxide between 800 0 and 1,050 C was examined in nitro-
gen atmosphere or in vacuo. After quenching of the ouprous oxideg thin
layers were taken from the crystal, and their gamma activity was measured.
From this the authors determined the silver content by means of a calibra-
tion curve (Fig. 1). The following temperature dependence was found for the

The diffusion of silver into single crystals and polycrystalline material
above 8500C takes place via the free oopper.sites of the lattice. The dif-
fusion into polycrystalline material below 8500C takes place via inter-
crystalline, layers. Further, the authors studied the diffusion of silver
during the oxidation of oopper.(Fig- 4). There are 4 figures, 1 tables
and 7 references: 4 Soviet, 2 British, and I German.
