TEXT: The polarographic method was used to study pH of Cr (011)3 formation in
Cr2(SO4)3, solutions with 3.8 - 10-3 MLCr-concentration.in the preserice of 0.1 1.1
Na,SO4 0.2 M (NIQIS04 and a series of buffer admixtures. The authors revealed
the effect of.thesZ admixtures upon the reduction of Cr3+ on the lig-electrode.
They showed the increase in pH of Cr(OH) deposition in the presence of (NHU)2~04,
urea,'and remicarbazide, as compared.tG12S04 solution. Stable- complex Cr-i+ VOM-
pounds are formed with citric and tartaric acids; such compounds dc. not form Or-
hydroxides at any pH values of the solution and are not reduced on the Hg-Olec-
trode a-c pH > 2-5 - 3.5. There are 24 references.

~TEXT: The effect of current density and some other factors on the
oxidation of Cr III - Cr VI was studied. A 100 yield in Cr VI was
shown to be possible only at very low current densities (30 - loo a/m
The current yield of Cr V1 is reduced considerably by an increas4~~in
current density, irrespectively of the ratio Cr III : Cr VI. An addition:
of Fe III which is hardly effective, reduces the current yield of Cr VI
slightly, and shifts the anode otential toward negative values. The
p
dependence of the current yield on the current density and onthe:degree
of Cr III oxidation was analyzed by plotting partial polarization curves
-for the oxidation-of Cr III and.oxygen formation. One of the causes of-
-this dependence lies in the low values of maximum current density'

concentrations of discharging ions.. Polarization increases very qiuch with
the current density. This waa indicated by the vary ateep rise d' the
partial polarization curve for Cr III oxidation (, 0.250 as compared to
0.065 in oxygen formation). The speoifioall high polarization of Or III
oxidation was assumed to have two causes: (1~ Or III cations hardly reach'
the positive anode surface; (2) Or VI anions firmly adsorbed on the anodep
