COVERAGE: The rapidly expanding industries of the 3oltiet Far East are
continuously increasing their demands for various types of sorbents
for processing and refining mineral and vegetable oils, animal fats,
etc. The present collection of 13 articles describes the varioua
types of natural sorbents extracted in the Soviet Far Ea,st, their

quantities of high-quality natural sorbents in the Soviet Far Ea;3,t
sufficient to satisfy local demands, thus elimins~ting the! necessi.ty
of their import from other parts of the USSR.

Abstract : A spontaneous disease of chicks, which was not caused by
a viral infection ard vhich vas mAnifested by a disturbance
of hemo* lesis and fatty degeueration of the liver, or by

course of the disease was experimentally reporduced, and ihe
role )f vitamins added as a supplement to the basic raticil.

from the vitamins supplied. Among chickens which were re-
ceiving basic rations without their supplementation by sciae
water-coluble vitamins, only spora&kc cases of disease willh
no marked symptons, were observed. From the data obtained,
it may be concluded that the addition of an incomplete c!)m-
plex of biologically active substances to the loasic diet Leads
to the disturbance of the chemical equilibrium of the met3bo-
lie processes. The results of the expetiments indicate
