that of doryl (Nlerck). The drug was employed in cases of postoperative intestinal
atony and retention of urine and, during operation for strangulation, to stimulate

Abstract [Author4s English summary]: The Consultation Center
for Cong nital Anomalies (Poradna pro vrozene vady) in Vranov
nad Toplou, B,,;st Slovak Kraj, found 14.3 congenital anomalies
per 1,000 deliveries, including 1.6 schises of the lip and pa-
late. Alcoholism was found as the only factor among other
possible factors; it occurred in 30 percent of the cases
involved as against 9 percent in the control population.
A guidan'oe is.pro-posed for a furtherresearch into the problem.

On the basis of analysis of material comprising 2241 cases of fractures of ankle
bones and the lower epiphysis of the tibia the authar came to the conclusion that:
(1) pseudarthosis of the medial ankle bone most frequently appeared In pronation
fractures of both ankle bones, (2) the fractures of ankle bones with the injury to
the carrying surface of the tibia belong to the most severe group of fractures,
(3) anatomical reposition brought about the beat [wictional results.

questionnaire; the women visited clinical services provided by
the University for other reasons. 100 satisfactorily filled in
questionnaires were analyzed. Among 54 women who had a satis-
factory sexual life only 18 suffered from anxieties; out of 46
who did not, 36 suffered from anxieties. A definite connection
botween the two factors seems to have been established, The
most frequent cause of frustration in womenseems to be lack of
erotic patience in males, not enough respectfor the clitoridal type
of sexual reactivity, and wrong anticonception methods- 3

A new high-precicion. optical trannit TVO-1 wan denigned by
the collective of designers, engineers and the beat workers
of a factory for aerogeodetical apparatus under the assist-
ance of the representative of the TsITIIGAiK, S. V. Yeliseyev,
Candidate of Technical Sciences. The test sample wras
finished at the end of 1957. In the summer and fall of
1958, the appiratus was tested in the field and laboratory.
The tests have shown that the apparatus can be successfully
used for anqular measurement at the points of the first-
order trianeulation. The design was based on the[followin'T
principles: 1) The apparatus should be more compact, stable
and lighter th'an tho trannit TT2/6; 2) the ti-nnsit must
be provided with a control tube, a mounted level tube and
an optical centering; 3) reading on the optical micrometer
(which is equal for the horizontal and vertical circle)

microscope represent two similar "branches". The optical

The lenses consist of two components. By changing the
diBtance between them the "run" is eliminated. The parallax
of pictures of opposite circle lines and the difference of
scales is eliminated by displacement of the lenses along
the optical axes of the microscope. With the transit the
scheme of an optical micrometer with mobile wedges was re-
alized. In spite o1'' positive reaultc obtained by tontn in
the field and laboratory, the denign io beinj3 improved,
especially as far as the lowerinG of the center of gravity
at the expense Of 4L change of the vertical system of axes

ABSTRACT: Experiments were performed on vacuum casting of one-piece rotors. It
was desired to obtain casts of high quality with a dense, fine-grained structure
and an even distribution of the hardening phases in metal. The main problem
involved the design of collapsible dies) and the proper choice of procedure for
pouring and removing the carbamide inserts in the molds. The inserts, made of XB
material and poured at 135-1400., had proper dimeasions,, but a large number of them
showed gas-bubble flaws on the surface and could not be used, Heating carbamide
above 1400 produced inserts with clean surfaces but of incorrect size due to ex-
cessiva shrinkage. The materials and the procedures chosen for pouring and for
removing of such inserts and tar the production of suitable molds are described In

5% paraffin, and 154%.ceresin. The metal (a heat-resistant alloy) was malted and
cast in vacuum, after being hold for 30-35 minutes in the molten state. Its pouring
temperature was 1500C and that of the molds was 950C. The pouring velocity was
1.67-1.8 kg/sec. This technique prevented the appearance of the.oxide films, im-
proved the properties of the casts, and resulted in a 100% acceptable production of
