ABSTRACT: An electromagnetic method is considered for measuring the rpm of
micro-electric machinery used in aviation and ship building. Mechanical
tachometers and tachometer generators which are used for rpm measurements
require a torque comparable with that of the micromachine proper;
stroboscopic apparatus is expensive, cumbersome, and requires experienced
service personnel. In the new electromagnetic measuring method, the rotor of

an electromagnetic primary element is slipped on the spindle of the micro-
machine; the rotor consists of one sheet of armature-type 40-50-mm steel and
has 1Z dents. The revolving rotor changes the reluctance of the primary-
element magnetic circuit; the resulting EFM frequency is proportional to the
speed of rotation of the micromachine. The frequency is measured by a
balanced circuit including a Wien-Robinson bridge and a zero indicator.
Measurement error is 1. 5-216. The instrument has a iiumber of scale spans,
and the rpm range can be set by selecting the bridge capacitors. The
instrument is simple and reliable; its development continues.

TITLE: Law of,the distribution of the displacements (smeshcheniya)of code
pulse boundaries

A TEXT: The author calculates the density of the distribution of the dis-
placements of the boundaries of synchronously transmitted pulses, account taken
both of edge distortions and fractionations (drobleniya). The statistical ana-
i lyzer does not distinguish the boundary shifts (from the ideal position) due to
:1 'edge distortions from shifts due to fractionations. In the absence of bias, it
fixes the boundaries in identical consecutive intervals -0.5 to-t- +0-5 to (t
being the duration of the code pulse). One may thus consider ihit the shifts of
boundaries occur only in one interval AB (Fig. 1), selected a certain (cuffi-
i ciently long) time.after the beginning of transmission. The following types of
boundaries will got into the interval CB., a) boundaries shifted from the ide

i fractionation pulses; a) boundaries that are the ends of the fractionation
pulses originating in the same intervali d) boundaries that are the ends of tha
ifractionation pulses originating in intervals -1 (AC), -2, -3, etc. The follow-
ing types of boundaries will get into the interval AC; h) boundaries shifted
from the ideal position owing to edge distortions; f) boundaries that arc the
beginnings of fractionation pulses; g) boundaries that are the ends of the
fractionation pulses originating in the same interval; h) boundariea that are
the ends of the-fractionation pulses originating in intervals -2, -3, -4, etc.
The author calculates the density of the distribution of t4e shifts of the bound-
aries for these eight types (a to h). For types a and e. this density is given
by the same formula and is:

ABSTRACT: A review with photographs of complete,assemblies and some
details of equipment whose fuller description has already
been published elsewhere. The US is represented by the
T-150 (T-155, TT-4A), T-28 and the miniature "Mite"
equipment. The Swiss "Autelca" and the East German
T-68-a (T-68-d) are described. In connection with the
latter, tribute is paid to the talents of the Soviet con-
structor L.I. Tremlem. The British equipment mentioned
comprises the 11-A (models 4? and 54) and the single-axis
model 75. Other models briefly described are: Italy -
Olivetti; Czechoslovakia - "Dalibor"; Belgium - Coquelet
(TR-845). Two basic tendencies are seen in modern design.
Tho first is the striving after mechanical perfection,
higher reliability and low weight. The second is the
