TEXT: The use of plastic materials in 1JRKCh made it possible to simplify
the,technological process of producing authorls.and publisher's originals and
manufacturing printed forms at the expense of reducing photographic processes
and eliminating the differentiating retouching. It is notbd that the plastic
."khostafan" is characterized by practically absent deformation, resistance to
fractures and cracks. Practice of using "khostafan" in 1961 is clescribed in
detail. A special glue (natural rubber - 20 g, aviation gasoline - 600-700 ml,
colophony - 65 9) Is successfully used when conducting assembly Viork on the
surface of "khostafan". Publisher's drawing of all elements on 1'khostafan~l is
performed with conventional drawing tools on such a number of originals which
corresponds to the numbers of colors on the map being published; photo paper

with a removable layer is used for shaping signatures. Working positives are
manufactured.from the finished originals by the method. of colorirg; in bulk on
celluloid base(collodion solution is applied to "khostafan" on the gloss side;
printed forms are copied from the positives. The content of a map is checked on
the superposed imprint. Shaping of publisher's originals of a fine drawing is
performed by the method of engraving on the layer prepared according to the pro-
scrIptior, elaborated at (TsNIIGAiK).- dry roller paste `P,i (SVP)
on titanium white - 300 9, colophony - 126 g, "alloy" (100 g vaseline oil and
25 9 colophony) - 54 g, dibutyl phthalate - 6-10 ml; rectified alcohol - 1,000rd,-
butyl acetate - 660 ml. Special engraving instruments are used. Contour cople.-
are made by the method of washed-off relief with coloring by blue dyestuff. A
table is presented on the results of checking on how uniformly various copying
and other solutions are distributed on the dull and gloss sides of' "khostafan",
and how stable they are retained. Work is continuing on checking the use of
"khostafan" instead of glass for manufacturing bromium-ailver negatives and dia-
positives; the'work of an experimental laboratory is described w!hich manufac-
tures silver-free copies on "khostafan" by the washed-off relief and refines the
technique of manufacturing duplicates. To manufacture copies on "khostafan" by

the coloring method, it Is necessary to apply preliminarily 2% collodion on its
gloss side, and after its drying to apply chrome solution of the Siberian larch
9mm. Coloring of nitrofilms is performed with a dyestuff according to the pre-
scription: solution A - dyestuff induline - 48 g, rectified ethyl alcohol - 800m1,
solution F (B) - brown fatty dyestuff - 24 g, butyl acetate - 80 ml. To clear
up the feasibility of copying from "khostafan" in direct and rever,,je images, two
printed forms were manufactured: On one of them, the positive was placed during
copying with emulsion layer toward the copying layer, on theLqVer,. by the layer
upward; no visual difference in printed imprints from these,'$Qrms was noticed.

Abstract: Different types of hyperi-ne sera, received from the "Bio-
vetto" institute of vaccines, and sera from Nitre were tested.
The authors concluded that higher titers in RTGA and neutre-lizing
antibodies are good criteria for serum evaluation, as a pro-
phylactic measure. RM and the neutralizing reaction my take
place with avirulent strains*of Hertfordshire. No titer diffe-
renje was detected in RTGA of separate sera as against the vira-
lent strain 2455 and in mixtures of the tested sera to 17 dif-

the serum. The antigen was prepared on an allantoic-anniotic
liquid of 32 day-old hen enbryos. The eggs were opened. 48
hours after infection. Hemo-agglutinating titer was 1:256-
1:1024, and the infection titer -40-8 . 1~yperimmxnization
was conducted on Leghorn bens and turkeys, Three virus injec-

Title :Experiments on Immunization of Domestic Fowl Against Small-
pox by a Vaccine Prepared on Chorioallantoic Membrane of

Abstract : The birds were immunized by three strains of smallpox bird
virus: a local one -- Di-Ivanka; an Egyptian strain Di-F4;ypt;
and a standard vaccine strain IX-pigeon. Tha first strain
was found to be too virulent, the last was not immunogenic.
The M-Egypt strain under laboratory conditions fully pro-
tected the birds from disease, and in massive doses caused a
slight form of smallpox in some cases. The problem of the
possibility of utilizing the Di-Egypt 8train for mass
vaccination is raised.
