TEXT: The authors desor ibe changes in the design of cylindrical powder
chamberd of 114.6 mm in diameter.. developed and manufactured at the Institute
of Ferrous Metallurgy. The new model ofthe chamber is intended not only:for
performing identification analyses but also for precision measurements of
crystal lattice constants by the asymmetrical-or reverse method, Dismountable
thermostatic screens assure a stable controlled temperature of the specimsn and
the film. Measurements of the crystal lattice aone-tants have shown that radio-
graphs taken at stable temperature, yield mean arithmatio*values of the lAttice
constants, which differoonly by the sixth digit. OraduatJon of the chamber was,
made in the 13.2 - 50,2 C Umperature range for the purpooe of establishing

Abstract: Recording of roentgenograms (R) of investigated materials is done
according to the powder method of Debye-Scherrer vith subsequent
comparison of the position and intensity of the lines of the re-
cording with those of Debye-roentgenograms of spacimeno of pure
minerals. Absence of standard lines in the R of the sample under
study does not always meAn an absence of the phase because of "-.he

Abstract: minerals-It is possible to determine endelite only with a 50% con-
centration thereof; haluasite in the presence of kaolUite can be
determined if the concextration is of 45%j kaolivite can be deter-
mined at a concentration of 5-1* On roentgen analyBis (RA) of '
titanium raw materials the determination is accurate, fccr anatase-
rutile mixtures, within 3% rutile and 5% anatase. Determination of
mullite content in fired ceramic body is effected in the following
manner: to the material under study is added 101,~ NaCl (standard)
and a previously prepared calibration curve (in coordiliateBt mul-
lite content (in %) versus intensity ratio Imu.11 :1 ) is used
Ite, N4C1
for comparing the relative intensity of mullite lines (121) and
(220) of the R. The selected lines are convenient for the reason
that in their vicinity there are no lines of other phases of ceramic
materials: quartz, corundum and cristobalite. Comparison of in-
tensities is effected by computation of darkened areas after photo-
metric processing of R recorded from plane samples. Accuracy of
munite determination is of 14% (relative).
