ABSTRACT: This is an account of the 10th All-Union individual
and team championship of sport parachutists held in
Krasnodar. The author describes the five competitive
exercises, the scores achieved by individual con-
testants and by teams, notes shortcomings and makes a
few suggestions for the future. Fifteen male and 10
female teams took part in the individual championships,
with 91 males and 33 females participating. One extra
Air Force team and one team from long range aviation
also participated hors concours. On an average, each
contestant had 437 parachute jumps on his record. Each
individual contestant made 2 jumps, each member of team

ABSTRACT: The purpose of-the investigation was to check previously derived formu-

workers and which point to a dependence on the thickness (d) like e, with %

results show that a. 0.6-- 1-5) in the thickness range 600-1200 With in-

ABSTRACT: The reinforcing of the body of a drilling bit with a conical-
coupling, and the reducing of its conical opening, will in-
crease its resistance to wear. As the production of such
bits has just started at the "Kommunist" Plant, the author
recommends the use of conical bushings made of thin sheet
iron which can be fixed on the end of a boring bar, thus
reducing the force of impact of the bar against the.walle
of the bit. There is I diagram.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this paper was to investigate the relations
governing the change in the Drimary recrystallisation texture
during selective recrystallisation. The influence of
selective recrystallisation was studied on transformer
steel containing 3% Si after cold rolling to various
reductions. After cold rolling the 30 mm dia, 0.2 mm thick
specimens were annealed under the following reSDective
conditions: for two hours at 700 0; for 4 to 6 6urs at
1150 - 1200 C; at 700 C followed by annealing at 1200 C
in a hydrogen atmosphere. After measuring the nozmal
magaetisation component as a function of tile azimuth angle,
the amplitudes of the second and fourth harmonics were
calculated and these were taken as the characteristics of
the texturc. It was found that in transformer steel

of perfection of the texture of primary recrystallisation;
the more pronounced the texture of the primary reerystallisa-
tion the more pronounced will also be the texture of
selective recrystallisation. Increase in the degree of
perfection of the texture of primary recrystallisation
during selective recrystallisation in the range of small
deformations is due to an increase in volume of the crystallites
with the orientation (110) and [001 and in the range of
large deformations it is due to the crystallites in.which

PERIODICAL: Uch. zap. Ryazansk. gos. ped. in-t, 1958, Vol 15 pp 3-20
ABSTRACT: Recrystallization textures (RT) of steel St 3 were studied as
functions of conditions of annealing and of the preceding plastic
deformation (PD). The existence of two types of RT was estab-
lished; after moderate PD, the crystals are essentially oriented
in the planes (110) [100] ; following severe PD, the orientation
of the grains may be described as a rolled texture which had
been rotated by 15-20o in the plane of rolling. A range of reduc-
tions was determined within which one type of RT is replaced
by the other. It is shown that 3-5 minutes of anneal are suffic-
ient for the formation of a RT; any exposure thereafter does
not produce any changes in the RT. A survey of works dealing A.B.
with studies of the RT in transformer steels is presented.

ABSTRACT: The author reviews some night-offensive operations in the last
war and analyzes tactical concepts of such operations under conditions of modern
warfare. He describes the role of coordinated action of troops taking part in night_!~
offensive operations and recommends more action of subunits in carrying out
combat missions. Experience ahows that it is expedient to attach artillery and
tanks to a motorized infantry company in night combat. Sometimes, it is also
expedient to reinforce tank subunits by motorized infantry subunits. Joint combat

operations of tanks and motorized infantry considerably increase the fire and
accuracy and ensure the defense of friendly tanks against antitank weapons of the
enemy. The increased role of night-combat operations demands greater attention
to tactical and technical training and to morale-building of troops. [NT]
