L 50132-66 ACC M, Ar6016581 or several fluid-fitted pressure-control cylinders 3 are connected to the standard pump-accumulator unit consisting of uster-filled cylinder I and air cylinders 2 con, tainLng enough air to assure the minimal required drop in pressure over a working cycle. by changing the volume of fluid in cylinders 3 it in possible to change the volume of air in the accumulator and hence also to adjust pressure, An increase in pressure to dehieVed by pumping fluid Into cylinders 3 and a decrease In pressure, by bleeding part of the fluid into the puniping-unit tank. The unit can be adjusted to any pressure within the control rtnge with the aid of a pressure gauge. This design has been experimentally incorporated with good results in the drives of 7,000, 10,000-. 13,000- and 30.000-ton hydraulic stamping presses; each press Is actuated by its own accumulator in which the pressure is adjusted within the range of from 320 to 180 kg/cu2 within 3-5 min. The results have been satisfactory; thus, the concomi- tent reduction in power consumption of the 7,000-ton press produced savings of 22,000 rubles per year. Another problem, namely, the regulation of the rate of notion of press tools in presses of this kind, could also be solved by using the individual pump-accumulator drive with stepless regulation of pressure by connecting or discon- nectiag as needed some of the air cylinders so as to regulate the degree of air ex- pansion during the working and idle strokes of the press tools* Origo art* host 6 figures, 10 formulas. The paper ,discusses the effect of the conditions of growth on the character of the growth of the dendrites, including the effect of the twinning structure of dendritic priming. 'The morphology of the dendritic twinning is examined in detail. The relationship between the segregation coefficients of some elements on their concentration in the 'liquid phase in established experimentally, also the distribution of alloying additions across the cross section of the dendrite. The dendritic Ge crystals were obtained Card 1/ 3 L 1"9345 ACCESSION NRi AT3001910 !by growing them by the Chokhrallskly method from an alloy cooled 15-ZOOG below :the crystallization point, dendritic primers oriented along (211) were employel. 'Linear growth rate: 10-15 cm/mIn In purified H and under vacuum. Dendrites 'grown under vacuum are free of the surface imperfections encountered because of surface supercooling in H; the vacuum dendrites form perfect bands %%Ithout any .branching or parasitic crystallizatlim. The study of the morphology of polysynthe- ,tic dendrite twins of Go and its relationship with the character of the growth of the' dendrites was carried out an follows: (1) Investigation (under 600 to 750x enlarge- ;ment) of dendritic microsections after short-term chemical etching; (2) similar ,lexamination of the transverse fracture surface of the dendrites (by the Faust-Johni ,method; Electrochem. Soc.. L, v. 107. no. 2, 1960). At least two twinning our- jaces were found on all dendriteal four groups of dendrites are identified accord- ing to their mutual placement of twinning planes. Tomsk, ltd-vo Tomakogo univ.. 1964, 22-33 qq ,TOPIC TAGSt germalum seniconducto , gendrite, carrier lifetime, electron recombi- nation, electric property ABSTO.CTt Surface conductivity and recombination velocity are studied on the natu- ral surface of germanium dendrites as z., function of the external field in dry air, and some data are obtained on the relationship between surface and volume recombina-' tion In these dendrites. Specimens of p-germanium with it resistivity of 5-20 11-cm wove studied. Two pieces of glass were used to press the specimens between two mica, plates. Semitransparent tin oxide electrodes were Applied to the mica shoots on the, glass side. The external field wait applied to these electrodes through a silver COrd 1/3 L 01282-66 ACCESSION NF: ATS02011146 coating on the glass. The capacitance of the metal-seml.conductor condenser was measured by an a-c bridge with an accuracy of 0.2%. Dendrites are a complex materi-: al for studying electrical surface properties In view of the heterogeneity of their volumetric properties. It Is shown that the velocity of surface recombination on the natural surface of germanium dendrites is high--of the order of 103 cm/sec. On the other hand the recombination rate on etched surfaces is apparently low (less than 200 cm/sec). The concentration of fast surface states on the natural surface of the dendrites Is greater by an order of magnitud6 than on the etched germanium surface. The lifetimes of the non-equilibrium current carriers differ in the vari- ious region# which correspond to different stages in the grow" of the dendrite crystals. There Is a surface layer about 5-30 V thick where the lifetime Is appar- ently considerably shorter than In the other regions of the crystal. The lifetime in the central part of the dendrite 1.8 rather long, of the order of 20 usec and more. It is recommended that future experiments with dendrites should be combined with a check on uniformity In reciativity and lifetime. OrIg. art. hast 4 figures, 1 table.
