observed in injection castingi 1) when molding the product, the molding

absorbing capacity of anorganic mater1als while maintaining the respective
mechanical strengths. The author describes and explains two casting
machines: the pneumatically operated casting machine, type LPO I and the

TITLE: Application of the injection-casting technology to the production
of fine industrial ceramics

PERIODICAL: Sklar a keramik, no. 4, 1962, 130-132
TEXT: The principle, equipment and advantages of Injection-casting techno-
logy- of fine industrial ceramica, as proposed by P. Q. Gribovskyy (Gor-yacheye

are presented. In Czechoslovakia, this technology is rapidly expanding using the
LPG I injection casting equipment. The technology consists of preparing mixtures
of powdered ceramic material (80-92%) with thermoplastic resins (polyityrene) or
hard waxes (paraffin, stearin, wax) and their combinations. The mixture is
heated and pressure-injected into steel molds. Castings are then heat-treated and
fired, losing the binder by evaporation and distillation. High dimensional
tolerances and surface qualities aroobtained requiring minimum finisiting opera-
tions. A rough economical evaluation indicates that although the casting mixture
costs about eight times more than that for plaster-mold casting, overall savings
of about 52% are realized due to very low molding and finishing costs. Injection

casting is especially suitable for large-batch production of small items.
Furthermore, new, nonpla3tiC materials can be used. Use of vacuum during mixing
to eliminato air bubbles makes this technology suitable for ceramic capacitor
production. Green castings can be joined by adhe31VeS, thus making possible
production of complex shapes frm simple cmponents. There are 10 figures and I
table.

ABSTRACTs The method allows the determination of Mg in coal in the presence of
elements that would normally interfere with the determinations Even in the presence
of Al it is possible to make the determination, without separation; 8-hydroxIquinoline
is used to eliminhts the-influence of the interfering metals* The use of organic
solventap namely icetonsp increases the sensitivity of the method; 0,05,microgram
of Mg in I al can'be determined. The method is faat:and accuratee Orig. art. Met

~TOPIC TAGS: pulse generator, electronic test equipment
ABSTRACT: A generator of undistorted current pulses of up to 1300 amp for equipment-
testing purposes is described. Discharge current of a capacitor bank was used for
pulse formation and two arc gaps (width, 2 cm) were used as switching units for
starting and -stoppingpulse current. Electrodes 14-16 mm thick mounted on a
rotating dielectric disk fired the arcs by passing through the arc gaps. A capacitor
bank with up to 570 uf capacity charged to 30 kv was used in the experimental genera-
tor. Rectangular pulses of 500-2000 usec duration of current up to 1300 amp were
produced. Orig. art, hast 4 figures and 1 table.
