The scaling coefficients must be set in such a manner that the er-
ror be.smaller than a certain critical valuel.otherwise the system
becomes unstable. The paper is divided into two parts. The first
part deals with the Mathematical foundations of the proposed con-
trol method and gives the block-diagram of the system. In the see-
ond part, the effects of systematic signal errore and of the error

TEXT: This is a patent of a pneumatic distributor for the output
printers of digital computers, characterized by-high-upeed, relia-
bility, simple construction and manufactureq and easy-maintenance.
The essence of this device (see figure) is the use of valve 10 ro- 'VX
tating around -the axis 01 driven by a 6tor(which is not shown on
;the figure) enclosed in the casing 20. The type-wheel 33 rotates

there are also cuts 21 in which are placed inserts 22 with double,''
shaped grooves 220 - 224, and horizontal grooves 225 - 229 with
2-position valves 51 - 55 moved by means of electromagnets (not
shown on the figure), mounted in the body of the casing 20. The air
inlet and outlet for the distributor are the openings 23 and 24
connected to the type distributor 30, which has the form of a aeg-
ment. In the body of the diEitributur 30 there are drilled openings
31, in which there are spring-loaded hammers 32. When the pressure
Js applied the latter strike the-paper oheet 409 pressing it onto
the surface of the type-wheel and to the printing ribbon 42. The
.shaped grooves 121 - 124 of each insert have individual properties
ensuring the transmission of pressure to the.openinge 24 only when
they are aligned with the corresponding grooves 221 - 224 and with
:the positions of the valves 51 - 55 which serve for the coding of
information. Because "of the synchronous and in-phaae rotation of
the valve 10 and the type-wheel 33, the coincidence of the grooves
121 - 124 with the grooves 221 - 224 results in the printing of

Abstract: The authors tested the effectiveness of Chloramine B
and chlorous lime for the disinfection of small quantities of
water under field conditions. They found chloramine to be con-
siderably less effective. The action of either substance was
-found to depend on the concentration of organic substances and
especially on the pH of the water, with optimal results at a
pH of approximately 5. The effect of other factors on the
activity of the disinfectants was also tested.

construction for electron magnetic resonance, intended for
determination of the concentration of free radicals in a specimen

,an inertialess pick-up in automatic control systems for chemical
processes in the solid or liquid phase.

attenuated with time, exponentially with the damping coefficient a

plate material and its geometrical dimensions). The real damping
coefficient of the plate_aj is, howevero a little higher, since Eq. (1)
does not consider the no load losses in the mechanical system of the probe. V

controls the frequency of the exciting impulses. The instrument works as
followst I saw-tooth generator (Fig.1) gives periodical exciting current
impulses, 15 - 20,Asec long, to the probe. The alternating voltage in-
duced in the probe winding by mechanical oscillations is amplified, and
conducted to the detector and the first integrator, where the signal is
rectified, and its d.c. component is isolated. The voltage is re-amplifiee
in the second integrator, balanced, and conducted into the primary circuit
of the control tube of the saw-tooth generatorl this ensures an automatic
control of the frequency of exciting impulses. The instrument operates in
such a way that the product of the damping coefficient aX and of the
frequency of impulses remains practically constant, i.e.0 a-T - const (2),
