Zhur. prikl. khim. 28, 8, 785-801, 1955
: Asharite, hydroboracitej and datolite were used as
sources for the manufacture of boric acid and borax. The
process is discussed in detail. Boron fertilizers were
obtained from the wastes of boric acid manufacture by a
continuous process. Preparation of boron fertilizers
from datolite is also described. Two tables, 6 flow-
she#ts, 5 references, 3 Russian (1940-1950).

and
gives brief information on their composition and properties.
The fertilizers concerned are: double auperphosphate, ammophos

TITLE: "Ftoroplast-4" sealings for the stuffing boxes of high-

PERIODICAL: Xhimicheskoye mashinostroyqniye, no- 4, 1962, 39
TEXT: Nonferrous metal stuffing boxes, used mainly for high-pressure
comprescors (300 atm, and more) had to be replaced after IOOG-1500
hrs
because of rapid wear of the ringn and scuffing of the rod. The
Irkutsk
13ranch of t-he Gi-oronoftt)mash tried to use synthetic materials
for such
stuffing boxes, Darticularly "fioroplast-4", and developed a new
design
(Fio. ) with a sealin- made of this material and consistingof 2
conical
rings. The ring (1) Is fitted tightIly to the rod with a negative
allowance
Of about 0.5 mm, and a narrow, clearance on the outer diameter. The
ring
(2) is fitted tiGhtly on the outer diameter leaving a clearance on
the rod.

PERIODICAtt Kholodilinaya tek.hnika, 1059, Wr lp pp 50-52

ABSTRACT: Up to the present there did not exist any norms for
the calcula-
tion of systems of air conditioning for malting boxes. "Gipro-
spirtvino" has elaborated norms for technological planning of
malt houses and breweries. These norms comprise rating cha-
racteristics for the calculation of air conditioning, of
average amount of heat, moisture and carbon dioxide develop-
ing in the process of malting, etc. For air conditioning the
basic rating characteristics ares temperature of air applied
to green malt +120C; relative moisture 90; temperature of air
after being applied to green malt +160C; relative moisture '
85%. The article presents formulae for the calculation of the
amounts of heat, carbon dioxide and moisture developed during
malting. Heat development can be determined on the basis of
1 ss of dry substances, is shown in the table giving the re-
sults of 8 days germination of g-reen.malt. The article pre-
sents also formulae fort maximum development of caz:bon dioxide

PERIODICAL; Kauchuk i rezina, no& 8, 1962, 14 16
TEXT: A method has been developed for the production of foam rubber
articles
with partial replacement of the latex by.aqueous dispersions of old
rubber or
waste products from foam rubber production. The technique of old
rubber dispersion
.was developed at the ' HIMIU11 (NT-TShP). whereby the aqueous
dispersion of the rub-
ber is a polydispersed colloidal system. Dispersions prepared with
colophony as
the disperser and 3% aqueous solution of NaOH, as the soaping agent,
were used in
developing the produ6tion method of the latex mix for the foam rubber
articles.
The latex mix of the foam rubber, based an "revertex-standard" and
CKC -50ar
(SKS-50PO) latex, using various types of aqueous rubber dispersions,
6ontained
potassium paraffinate, vasellne oil or its emulsion, as the foaming
agent, or

in the

Is concluded
that by replacing 20 - 30% of the synthetic and natural latex with
aqueous disper-
sions of rubber, the quality of the foam rubber produced by the
foaming method,
does not drop. According to preliminary calculations, the use of
aqueous dis-
persions of rubber in the production of foam rubber articles should
offer con-

ABSTRACT: This Author's Certificate introduces: 1. A direct rpm
controller for law-
power gas turbine engines. The unit contains an actuating mechanism
made in the form
of a nozzle which interacts with a flat valve located in the arm of
a balanced spring-
loaded centrifugal weight mounted on the cross connection of the
power shaft. Con-
struction is simplified and friction is reduced by locating the
nozzle and the fuel
channel in the power*ehaft. 2. A modification of this device vhich
may be-adjusted
,during engine operation.by using-a spring which acts on a lever and
is equipped with
a screw for varying tension.
