~.ABSTIMCT: The ap lication of multielectrode glow-discharge
tubes ~decatrions) is limited by their relatively low
operating frequency. An attempt is made in this paper
to determine the limit of counting speed of multi-
electrode cold cathode tubes by the dynamic character-
istic of the anode-cathode gap. A two-impulse decatron
is analyzed, but the results may also be applied to
other counting tubes. Figure 1 shows the schematic

possible to ground any point) where the voltage
was measured, The oscillograms do show that after the
interruption of cathode current at time ti, the voltage
between the anode and cathode (K 0) drops below the
glow voltage; therefore, deionization starts at this
moment. To insure correct counting the next I nition
at moment t-)should start at the next cathode ~K
which, due to the current to the next subcathode
(2 n Kl), has a lower ignition voltage. Thus, the
conditions for proper pulse counting may be stated as;

of the potential of the anodeg whicIM determines in turn the poten-
tial of the plasma. At this instant the potftial between the ca-

ge decreases. As a re4ot of the above the distribution of poten-
tial produced inside the unipolar layer becomes insuffi6i#nt for
producing the screening of the cathode field; this field reaches
the plasma and this effect increases e7entually the t%Lckness of
the unipolar layer. The initiation of discharge at the cathode
may be considered as the breakdown of the unipolar layer, acting
until the latter is completely r6formedo-bince the presBure and
,distance between the electrodea in a dekatron correspond to the
right branch of' the Paschen curveq the smaller the thickness of the

TITLE: -Electric strength recovery of a two-electrode gap
after the passage of a glow-discharge

TEXTs This is an investigation of the electric strength recovery
in a diode gaseous gap after glow-discharge as a function of the
geometry, kind and pressure of gas and electrical conditions prevai-
ling in the 17-ap at the time of deionization. Experiments were made
in Heq Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe at pressures between 20 and 150 mm Hg. Re-
covery in He for pressures between 70 and 150 mm Hg increases with
rise of pressureq however, for pressures between 20 to 40 mm Hg the
recovery actually decreases. For Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe the recovery in-
creases with rise of pressure for the whole of the investigated ran-
ge. In general for all gases except Heq as the atomic number in-
creases the initial speed of the recovery rises and the time of re-

Electric strength recovery of a D230/D301
covery decreases. The disappearance of charged particles and the
decaying plasma of the ionized gas determine the electric strength
recovery. This can occur in any of the following processes: a) Am-
bipolar diffusion of the carrier into the walls and their subse-
quent recombinationg b) volume recombination of the electrons with
the positive ions and c) adhesion of electrons to neutral atoms and
molecules and subsequent recombination of the positive and negative
carriers. Tabulated values point to the relatively small effect of
pressure on the coefficient of volume-recombination (P). Reasonable
agreement obtained between the calculated and measured values of
suggests that plasma decay occurs further as a result of dissocia-
ted volume recombination during electron collisions with molecular
ions of the inert gas. As a result of volume recombination the con-
centration of charged particles in the interelectrode space falls
by a factor of 1 to 2; howeverp the corresponding role of volume re-
combination in the disappearance of charged particles is considera-
bly lower, but the role of ambipolar diffusion increases. There are

viet-bloo. The 4 most recent references to the English-language

ABSTRACT: Experience-is reported in the --se of. semiconductor heat.-sensitive resist-t,-.,,
ances (HSR) as temperature and',velocity.pickups.-- Questions involved in temperature''
calibration of the HSH are discussed. The construction is described of a flow-
Ivelocity pickup based on a IM-1 thermistor with indirectly heated nichrome coil._The
