It is pointed-out that gil-avity surveying can be expediently and widely employed in seeking copper-pyrite deposits in the South and, in'a number of cases., the Central Urals. Major orebodies with a large surplus mass can be exposed in gravity surveying. Tkie following important !con- clusions were reached. 1) The Archean and Lower Proterozoic basement preserved nearly all its structural features along the entire western slope of the UrLs. '2) The basement of the western Cis-Urals consists of separate major blocks of different internal structure*and different depths. 3) Along the eastern wa~gin P the platform the basement uprises' form the Tatarian, Orenburg, and BashkiriL arc2es and Kama massif, which are totally or at least partially (in the cores) coM15'osed J_Card 777 -A(tC--NR*.- AT6028382 ov r.,'ovier Arciiean metamorphic rocks, 4) The blocks located in the basement. iffect f It the structure of the sedimentary overburden. During, the deposition and in the course of geological history, the structure of the sedimentary cover was gr atly influenced by the position of the blocks, by the character and dips ofIthe lanes separating them, by the size of individual blocks and their relationship to ne another, and by the change- or their positIon with On this basis it as become possible to outline the boundaries of some fo Mmations in the sedimentary series (Bourzianskaya, Yurmatinakaya, etc.) and to de-fine the main stages ot the geological history of the regions in question and to make some conjectures th respect to oil and gas prospecting- Orig. art. has: 1 figure. The values of gi of a gravity anomaly for separate parallelepipeds are taken into account in a formula borrowed from 0. A. Shvank and Ye. N. Lyustikh (Interpretatsiya gravitataionnykh nablyudeniy (Inter- ,pretation of Gravity Anomalies), Gostoptekhizdat, 1947). For the convenience of practical calculations, the computed formulas are reduced to the form which allows the use of nomograms. The Card 1/3 33054 S/169/61/000/012/025/089 Calculating pallets for... D228/D305 values A = (zi + 1)/Zi 0 B = yi/zi 9 and u = x,/zi are chosen as variable parameters. Expressions are adduced for the gravity anomaly of separate parallelepipeds. Having assumed the magnitudes of A, B, and u to be constant, a graph of the function go f(u) may be constructed, and multiplying the values of go taken from the graph successively by zj/zO 9 -.""r Z2/'O-"'i/'O etc., we obtain the influences of gi of paral- lelepipeds for different depths of zio It is possible to take from these graphs those values of u at which the parallel- epipeds will create,at the point of origin of the coordinates, anomalies that are multiples of 0.01, 0.02, 0.05 megagals, et-,, These values of u may be recalculated to the coordinates x., L of the side faces of the parallelepipeds from the formula xi U M e magnitudes of z are determined from the izi M Card 2/3 33054 S/169/61/000/012/025/089 Calculating pallets for-, D228/D305 correlation z i = z0Ai Tables of the coordinates of the side faces of the parallelepipeds and of the values of gi for B = 11 2p 4. and 10 are cited in the work, The pallet given as an example is calculated for the values: A = 1.125 ; u = 0.01P 0.02 ... 30.0 ; zo = 100 m ; U = i g/cM3 ; and k 6,67 x 10-9 CGS.
