eggs. The larvae feed mostly on --asristea tissue

stems before the harvest. "hen the stems are
da,aaged they do not become yellow and dry, but
taeir seed deteriorates in quality. Deep nutumn
plowing is effective in controlling the sawfly.

victim are well harmonized. Of chemical
means of prevention, the most effective

Infrared irradiation are very promising but

ABSTRACT: Corrosion~ racteristics of four aluminum alloys were studied and the
most effective corrosive ageot was established. Test specimens were studied in mov-
ing and stagnant media. The alloys had the following composition (wt %): AlZn)4gCu
(5.96 Zn, 2.6o Mg,'1.29 Cu), AlZnMg (5.88 Zn, 2.74 mg), AlCuMg (1.00 Mg, 3.72 Cu),
and AlMg (3-8 Mg). The tests in moving media were made over a 30-day period with
river water, artificial sea water (Akimov solution), and a saline solution. The
saline solution proved the most effective corrosive agent, while the river water was
laast' effective. 'the two alloys containing Cu showed high corrosion; the alloys

TEXT: The problem examined is the measurement of diffusion parameters
of thermal neutrons, such as the diffusion constant, absorption cross
section, diffusion length, transport mean free path, for which purpose
the pulse-counting method has been extensively applied since 1954. The
author exposes the theory of this method on the lines of a German
textbook of Doctor K. Wirtz and Doctor K. H, Beokurts (Ref. 4), starting
from the time-dependent diffusion equation expressing the change of
