ABSTRACT,' Until recently mechanical production had often to be stopped in
order to exchange the refractory parts of feeder lines,, which was
necessary,.on the average, every lo - 1,5 dayse Each time it took
several days until the machines could again be put into operation.,
which made it difficult to work according to glan. The authors of
this paper succeeded in improving the refractory parts for the fee=
ders MII - 4. Hitherto these parts had been produced by plastic form
ming from a layer containing 45 O/o clay and 55 O/o fireclay wasteg
Laboratory experiments showid that the mechanical strength and the
thermal resistance of refractories can be considekably ihereased
by adding up to 2o '0/o technical alumina. Besidess 3o 0/6*91ightly
burnt fireclay was introduced into the layer. Furthermores a recipe
ia given according to which the refractories were produced and show
wed good relftats. Thesw products can be pressed in metal molds cono
sisting of several parts by means o~ pneumatic rammers or by hand.

mine hoisting gear wit-hin the current, drive for
specialisation. The development of hoists with a
multi-rope friction drm is prooeeding. These hoists
can beerected on a tower over the shaft, their.drums
am smaller and.lighter.which leads to considerable
savings of structures and foundations. The first
installation, designated - MK-3.25 x 4, has been erected
at the "Imeni Karla Libknekhta" mine in the Krivoy:P-09
coalfield. It lifts 15 tons from 1300 m depths.
The installation.incorporates remote automatic control.
with a selsyn depth indicator and a rope slip

changing of ropes. Four lifting ropes envelop the
friction drun JA four parallel planes through driving
angles.of between 180 and 2200. Each rope carries the
mine irage at one end and another cage or a counterweigit
at the other and. Guide pulleys ensure the positioning
of the x-ope so as to pick up the cage suspension.
The rope is driven by friotion over the dr-m lining,
which can. be exchanged without removal of the hoisting
ropes. The layoutof the hoist is illustrated in Fig-3,
Some details are enumerated, including protection
against faults. The pneumatic circuit controlling the
spring loaded, pneumat-ically actuated brake is shown
in, Fig.4. It is stated that the machine described in
the present paper clan replac-e standard hoisting
installations with drum diametecs of 69 8 and. 9 m.

ABSTRACT: In his scarcely known dissertation, Nasyroy [Ref 11 developed,
a method for the solution of the Jztveise-boundary problems
of hydrodynamics. The principal difficulty of the method con-
sisted in the determination of a function mapping the domain of
the complex potential conformally onto a domain g for which the
solution of the Dirichlet problem is known.
In the present paper the determination of the mapping function
is carried out in four special cases, where 0 means the complex*!'.'..o
plane with cuts along the real axis.

PERIODICAL:Izvestiya %~ynshikh uchebnykh zavedenly, Aviatsionnaya

ABSTRACT: The flow round the body is assumed to be infinite,
axi-symmetric potential and that of an incompressible
fluid. If the axis of'the body is taken as the
X-axis, with the origin at the mid-point of the body
length, then any axial plane z gives the same
profile L as the cross-section of the body, this
profile being symmetric with respect to x-axis.
The problem then reduces to that of finding an
analytic function z =.f(j )giving a conformal
transformation of th6 exterior of the unit circle
into the exterior of the given profile. This
analytic function is sought in the form of a series
Card 1/4 in inverse powers of as given by Eq (1) or in the

parametric form by Eq (2). Since the velocity
potential V in z-plane is given by the differential
equation, Eq Wo with the boundary conditions of
Eq (4), a relation can be derived between the
velocities roundthe unit circle and the profile-by
means of the transformation formula of Eq_(l) and
this relation is given by Eq (5) together with the
subsidiary relations of Eq (6) - (8). The solution
of the problem,is then obtained by the method of
successive approximations and Fourier series the-
coefficients of which are determined from the above
mentioned velocity relationship. As the zero
approximation for the shape of the body it may be
convenient to take an ellipsoid of revolution, in
which case only the first term of the first relation
of Eq (2) exists; 1.e. x(t) -.:--B cos t and also
U(t) = D sin t. In general, for an arbitrary profile
of the body u(t) will be #s given by the first
relation on p 23, but as practical computations show,
Card 2/4 the coefficients dk are small and diminish rapidly

with k, so that their wsf:tects on higher approximations
of W(t) represent only minor corrections compared with
values obtained from the-simplified formula. As shown
in Ref 21 the valo--ity potential (p on the surface 'of
the axi-symmetrical bodies differa only little from the
value yo + ay', where yo is the oolution of the: . I
Laplace equation (Eq 12) and y' is the solution of the
Poisson equation (Eq 13) and o is a constant. The
corresponding non-dimensional velocity on the surface
of the body is then W = "Vo + a 71 where v0 is the
velocity of the two-dimenB-ional flow past the
profile L, and v1 is the supplementary velocity
resulting from the potential c0. An example is then
given (generalized Mx-zk0-.s1:J:y13 profile) in which
it is shown that using no further than the third

Under rated conditions it raises the air pressure from 1 to 14 atm
and has a volumetr1c output related to the input conditions of
340 0/min. The power is 2300 kW and the speed 8600 rpm. In
addition t6 the two cylinders with.their air coolers and requisite

cooler for the elebtric motor. The weight of the compressors
with air coolers and connecting pipework is 33900 kg. The
foundation size is 11.2 x 3.15 M. The compressed air -pressure

The degree of regeneration is nbout 750tot the regenerative heating
surface is 1500 M2, and the compression ratio of the cycled air is
4.6. The air compressor, driven by the high-pressure turbine,
runs at 5200 r.p.m., and the low-pressure turbine which drives the
gas compressor runs at 5600 r.p.m. In the combustion chamber the
gas burns in an air flow at a rated temperature of 404 OC and a
pressure of 4.45 atm delivered from an air heater at the rate of

tion and governing is delivered by a centrifugal pump driven front
the high-pressure turbi.ne shaft. An electric pump is used during
starting. The sequence of starting operations is provided by
special relay equipment with appropriate sequence arrangements and
time delays. There has been considerable standardisation of parts
betxieen turbines types GT-750-6 and r-T-700-5 (GT-700-5). As
compared with type GT-700-5, type GT-750-6 has 811o lower fuel
consumption and the referred weight of the equipment is 37N lower.
