"The Problems of Choledochotomy."
Budapest, Orvosi Hetilap, Vol 104, No 28, 14July 1963, pages 1312-1315.
Abstract: [Authors' Hungarian summary modified] The authors evaluate the
158 instances,in which probino, of the choledochus during surgery was perform-
ed in their ward, in the last 10 years, and call attention to the significance
of this procedure. In the evaluation of the need for choledochotomy the only
findin- which is considered definite indication was palpable stone. Under
this criterium, no choledochotomy was performed needlessly and 91.2 per cent
of the stones have been palpable. If the diameter of the choledochus was
over 15 mm, no stone was found and the probe could not be passed, the chole-
dochus, was opened. Other symptoms, sometimes considered as indications for
the openinp: are evaluated. Attention is called to the urgency 'of obtaining
equipment for intraoperative cholangiography and to the importance of the
choledochus probe which is done routinely in this hospital. In the authors'
opinion, the need for choledochotomy should be decided by a joint evaluation
of the case history, laboratory and surgical findingsiand the judgement of
the surgeon. 3 Hungarian, 51 Western references.

T=: For the beginning of the article see RZhAstr, 1962, 2G98. The
author describes the experimental work for the establishment of cadastral maps
(scale 1 : 2000) by the steieolhotogrammetrical method, carried out in the German
Federal ReDublic. The positive results of this work are stressed. It is pointed
out ti'at it is necessary, in Hungary, to carry out works for extension of the
maln -eodetic network in order to create a geodetic control network (with 2-3 km
d1stance between the reference points) for large-scale surveys- The main
,-eidetic network for the territory of the whole country has already been created.

ABSTRACT: The base composition of the DNA of
the dog thymus, spleen and liver was determined by means of paper
chromatography. The results indicate that the different organs of the dog
have an identical base ratio, The guanine-eytosine content of the canine
DNA is 42,6 per cent, as in other mammalian species. The amount of
5-methyleytosine is 0.88 per cent lower than in the WA of calvese

ABSTRACT: The chrom~Ltbgraphic behavior of
.DNA-s isolated from the thymus, liver " spleen of cattle and dogs was
,studied on methylated albumen using the fractional elution technique.
..Within a given species, the DNA-s of different organs behaved in a similar
mannbr. The DNA-s of the two species, however, differ in their chroma-
tographic behavior. Elution from the methylated albumen occurred at 0.8 m,
NaCl concentration in case of the main fraction of cattle DM, and at
0.9 M NaC1 concentration in case -of the corresponding dog DNA fraction,

Abstract : Collagen consists of two chemically firmly bound
components, procollagen and metacollagcn. These
components are preserved by contractions, and this
process should be considered as a reversible reaction.
By dilation, procollagen is wished out of collagenous
fibers, Ind the remaining pert of collagen consists of
notneollngen. Under infiuence of heant., motccolligen

Pudapest, Hungary).-To decide the question 'whether procollagen
is a precursor or a component part of collagen the chemical com-
tion of native Collagen fibres (and not skin extracts) was studied.
P
ro:i native collmen fibres were obtained from rat tendon and mouse
tail, they ivere h6tochemically, physico-cl:emically, and functionally
aunit. Procollagen could be extracted and obtained in acr)-stalline
form from these native Collagen fibres. The identity of this protein
with Orekhovich's procollagen is proved, Native Collagen fibres
anisodiarrietrically contract at 67*, their residual Collagen (after the
extraction of procollagen-which is 051/) does'not cuntract but
shrinks (syneresis) at.55'. This -proteinlo is termed metacollagen.
Whereas inctacollagen shows excessive neutral swelling, the native
Collagen fibre swells only slightly. It is concluded that Ilafen
is a
co
functional protein unit built up by 2 components pro- an meta-
Collagen held together by chemical linkages. (Hungarian)
