To date, about 50 cases have been recorded In Bulgaria, mostly with Fasciola
hepatica, and sometimes with Dicrocoelium lanceolatum or Fasciola. gigantica.
This paper deals exclusively with Fasciola hepatica Infestation, the Incidence of
which in some areas of Bulgaria amounts to 70 to 9017. of animals. Galba trun-
culata MuU were artificially infected with Fasciola ova, and the development of
miracidia In the snaUs was followed under the microscupe. The cercariae Which
developed were fed to rabbits. The animals did not contract the infection if cer-
cartae had been introduced directly, but infection was successful it the rabbits
had been fed grass with adhering metacercariae. The disease thus caused corre-
sponded in every respect to the usual pattern of generalized distomatoais, with
necrosis and fatty degereration of the liver. obsoruction of bile ducts, hyallne
degeneration of connective tissue, young horma in the liver parenchyma and the
ducts, bronchopneumonla. with exudative pleurisy, peritonitis, neuronophagia in
the brain, etc. In 2.5 months grave cirrhosis of the liver ensued. Conclusions
drawn from 19 human cases are discussed, together with the detailed report of
a case where the condition had at first resembled Hodgkin's disease. From
among the symptoms of distomatosin, cholangitic complaints, tosinophil infiltrates
in the lungs, polyserositis, and allergic signs are discussed. For diagnosis in the
early stage before the appearance of ova In the faeces, Lavler and Stefanopolo'x
antigen, obtained by treating dried distornata. with sulphuric acid, was found to
ensure the most reliable results. For treatment emetine is recommended, and,

Abstract Discussion of vital need to diagnose congenital hypothyroidism
at earliest possible time; with 2 case reports, girls who started
receiving thyroid replacement therapy at 5.5 and 3.5 months of age
respectively; their IQs at age 5.5 and 6.5 years, were 91 and 67. The
second one probably received too low a dose and was treated with

Abstract: (Authors' French summary modified) The article describes the
case of a five-year-old boy from the vicinity of the town of Titovo
U~ice. Diagnosis is often difficuli, and the ailment may remain undiag-
nosed in the form of cyrrhosis of the liver, achinococcus, biliary ob-
struction, or peritonitis. Death may be the outcome in tho abocnee of
correct diaC.7,osis, and.the cause of death may not even be discovered
post mortem. However, complete cure is posoible if an accurate diag-
nosis is forthcomine in time and appropriate therapy is provided.

onIthe name tubes yielded these results: (1) Both designs have characteristic
axial-velocity fields with maximum lying at 0. 1-0. 2 radius from the wall and a
near-axis zone of back flow; (2) A higher G, /G ratio results in a smaller back-
flow zone and in higher velocities at the periphery and at the center of the tube;
(3) The combustion process cuts the back-flow zone and the quantity of gas therein!
by several times as compared to the isothermic blowdowns. Data on the gas bura~

ABSTRACT., Combined internal and external cooling of the ilame tube of a il!! turbine
combustion chamber was investigated experimentally using both a telescopic flame titbe
and a flame tube with a single alit, 17 mm wEde, with swirl vanes. Measurements were
made of the gas and air flcw rates, distribution of the temperature and flow veloci-
ties-along the radius, and the-pressure drop along the combustion chamber. The ob-
tained results indicate that the major portion of the heat from the flame tube is re-
moved by external cooling, i.e., by the air flow through the annular duct of the corm-
bustion chamber. The use of a single slit with swirl vanes increases the heat trans
fer coefficient and considerably reduces the flame tube wall temperature. It :s noted!
that the reduction in temperature can also be achieved by using longitudinal ov trans'lI
verse ribs. The obtained relationship for convective heat transfer can be used for
