ABSTRACT: Transient processes are considered in oemiconductor diodes when th
current throup is given-(forward bias on the p-n junction), I

shown that when the width of the base is'small,, the time dependence of the minority
carrier density is described by a simple exponential function; for this.function
the time constant is calcultited with various recombination velocities on the ity,
unrectifying contacts and emitter efficiencies. Time dependences of this dens
were also obtained with different base widths. The recovery time ve J wascalcu-

ABSTRACT:It is pointee outthat in the practical application of syn-
chronized LC-oscillators, under conditions of low circuit se-
lectivity and when the value of the synchronizing e.m.f. is
relatively high, a broad coverage must be obtained. This is
necessary for prolonged and reliable LC-oscillator operation.
A method is proposed for calculating the width of the coverage
band of an LC-oscillator detuned on the fundamental frequency
harmonic [when the values of the synchronizing emf are com-
mensurate with the magnitude of the voltage produced by the
oscillator]. An analysis is given of random error in determin-
ing the width of the synchronization band by the proposed for-
mula. It was found that the relative random error in determin-

"Computation of Bandwidth of a Detuned Tube LC-Oacillator On

Referativnyy Zhurnal--Elektrotekhnika, No 2, Feb 57, Abstract
No 4335)
it is shown that, in the practical application of synchronized LC-
oscillators with low circuit selectivity and relatively large synchronizing
emfjt is necessary to 1-ve a broad bandwidth. A method o.0 computing
the widih of the band is suggested, whereby the harmonic of the funda-
mental oscillations at values of emf commensurate with the oscillator
potential is utilized. It was found that tite accuracy is proportional
to the synchronization and inversely proportional to the bandwidth. (U)

TEXT: A broad-band aerial system was constructed and measured; it con-
sists of two spiral-beam antennas in the focus of a 7.5-m parabolic reflector.
The results of these measurements are described. Each beam has 4 turns; impe-
dance at output is equal to 70 ohm; two antennas were adjusted for operating in
phase. The antenna pattern in the horizontal and vbrtical planes was measured
with the use of' solar radio emission. The pattern width between the half-power
points amounted to 20 in the horizontal and 30 in the vertical plane. These
yalues were obtained at a frequency of 808 Mc. The band width of the aerial
system was 340 Mc (470 - 810 Mc). Side lobes had directivity which was 15 deci-
bel below that of the main lobe. All these characteristics are obtained only

length of a turn may cause a great change in the antenna pattern. At at-, Infle-

directivity.

TEXT: A cosmic noise receiver was put into operation at the observatory in
Ondrjeyova for recording at a frequency of 30.70 Me cosmic radio emission from
the region around the North Star. The receiver makes it possible to study
indirectly corpuscular emission from the flares, since the latter affects tile
ionosphere state and causes absorption of cosmic noise emission. On May 13,
1960, an intense flare was observed in Hd- light; simultaneously were registered
radio emission on meter and decimeter waves, atmospherics and cosmic noise level.
The records were compared of the following phenomena: width of HK line in
emission, intensity of solar radio emission at waves of 37-56 and 130 cm, the
curve of the course of sudden atmospheric disturbances at a frequency of 27 kc,

TFYT: A radio telescope at a wavelength 37 cm was put into operation in-
the Astronomical Institute, AS of Czechoslovakian SSR, at Ondrejova on J.~ay 1, 19-0,J.
Observations of the Sun are conducted regularly. The radio telescope antenna i3 a
parabolic mirror of 7.5 m in diameter. A semi-wave dipole with a rouhd reflector
is used as an emitter Directivity diagram for a hhlf of power, taken on a transit
of the Sun, is-3.25' ; 5.25'.* The receiver is 'a superheterodyne, band width-/~Lf =
1.Me; noise coefficient = 15% The radiometer is calibrbLted by the noise diode. The
method of estimating the absolute magnitude of the solar radio emission flux is
described. The wavelength was selected taking into account certain range:~ of t~:~
solar radio emission observed at the other stations. Bursts of radio emisr~ion
the Sun at different wavel6ngthsare compared. There are 5 references.

Periodical : Fiziol.zhur. 2, 259-260, Mar/Apr 1954
Abstract : Maintenance of high efficiency among workers and preservation of health
can be accomplished only when analysis of the capacity of the human
organism is based on I. P. Pavlov's theory of higher nervous activity.
Physiological basis of work and rest, theory of fatigue and efficiency,
and organization of a labor force which would be able to handle the
productive forces in a communist society oas discussed at the scientific
conference on physiology of labor, held in Moscow from November 30, 1-95
3
'
to December 2, 1953. This conference was called by the Institute of
Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Diseases of the Academy of Medical
Sciences of the USSR. It was decided that the time is ripe now to or-
ganize a special institute of physiology of labor as was first proposed
at the 7th Congress of physiologists held in 1947. It was also Bug-
gested that publication of a magazine on physiology of labor should be
inaugurated soon.

light was omitted and the subjects were asked to work
at the same tempo. Thn stability of the stereotype Ln
various experimental subjacts was different, with the
aeviationn being as high an 51 percent from the norm,
(most fvocluently saen were tendencies toward increasing
the duration of the periods). In proportion to the work
the stereotype becamo stabilized, and the peri-An of work
were Particularly precise in duration. The subjects
tittempted to compensate for the absence of the light sig-
nal by resorting to thought counting or by reproduction
of the path of the light by movement of the eyes. The
former method was the more precise. With removal of the
light the Lmscular activity increased. With auditory
signalization the reckoning of time was more precise than
with visual aignalization. -- bi. I. Lisina
