Dear Father Schlicht:
General Smith has asked as to write to you and
express his regret at not having replied to your letter of
July 25th. Unfortunately, it had become attached to some
other docuu-ents and was only brought to the General's
attention immediately prior to his departure on a two weeks'
trip.
I am aware of the difficulties inherent in the
preparation of a prrogra:i such as you suggest, but I at
afraid that at this late date it to ioseible to Provide
the advice and assistance Mich YOU request. I at sure,
however, that central Smith would agree with me that you
progr&;4 is of great interest and should produce worthwhile
results.
I have also written to 'ather Gallagher and for
your infora:tion enclose a copy of the letter. I would like
