"Effect of Magnesium on the increased Blood Coagulation in Response to Fat
Loading."
Budapest, Kiserletes Orvostudoman , Vol XIX, No 1, Jan 67, pages 17-20.
Abstract: [Authors' Hungarian summaryl in response to the peroral administra-
tion of saturated fat5 (buttor), there is an acute increase in blood coagula-
tion. This tendency toward hypercoagulation can be warded off by the i.v. ad-
ministration of magnesium. In response to the i.v. administration of Y--gS04
to dogs, there was an increase in the blood clotting time and a simultaneous
decrease in the prothrombin utilization. The decrease in blood clotting time
and increase in prothrombin utilization which arises in response to fat
loading was warded off by the i.v. administration Of MgS04- 3 Hungarian, 19

Budapest, Magyar Allatorvosok Lapja, Vol 22, No 1, Jan 067, pages 5-9
Abstract: [Authors' English summary modified] In order to establish the in-
cidence of saginata cysticercosis, 110,~80 carcassesi,;ere inspected according
to current regulations, 5,547 of them by incision of additional pre-
flermd muscle groups and by the visual inszy-ction of muscles exposed in the
i e miasticatory
neat cutting process. The additional incisions were -nade into th U
muscles, heart, accessory muscles of the tonZue, diaphrai;n. aft-er removal of
the scrosa and throat muscles. The improved methods resulted in a three-fold
increase in positive findings. For this reason, the changing of current meat
inspection regulations to include the testing of t1he muscles described is
recommended. Of 41 r6ferences, about 16 are Fastern European, the rest are
Western.

TITL~: Problon of arc failure in gas-fillod incandescent lamps
SOURCi~: Acadonia sciontiarun hungaricao. Acta tochnica, V- 50, 1963, 389-402
TOPIC TAGS: incandescent laiiT, electric are
ADST'IMCT: The tondency of arc failure as the li~liting factor in the life performanco
and. efficiency of Gas-filled incandescent lamps, and t1io function of positive
ions in connection with electron space charge were discussed. Causes of
this type of arcing were discussed. The positiveion emissivity of several.
tungsten samples was investigated. The significance of the flashing sche-
dule was stressed and the improving effec4 by the instant switch-on pro-.
"cess was-described. In a test where the tendency to initial arcing was
suppressed by appropriate additions to the usual getter nmterial, an in-
crease of 4.5 SCE V1000 hra. was achieved without increasing the amount
of rejects. The authors think the staff of the Tungsten Works, I;td. for their co-ope-
ration in t-he -vrork-shop experiments, and for measuring the larT characteristics. The,
.also thank Mr. J. Szondy for helpful discussions and Kiss E. Szonfy for her sugges-
-tions,aiyd joint effort. Finally, they thank Ur. -1. Gubics and Mr A Gede for their
lox-pert tochnical skill in making the necessary vacuum and gas-fMad 'devices.--.

TITIEs Temperature regulation in rats semistarved since birth
SOURCE: Academia scientiarum hungaricae. Acta pVsiologica, v. 27, no- 3, 1965, 247-255
TOPIC TAGS: rat, body temperature, biologic aging, nutrition
ABSTRACT: A comparison of temperature regulation and energy metabolism in rats under.
fed from birth to adult age and in we1l-fod controls of the same age has sho= that
1) in the semistarved rat, the development of temperature regulation is delayed by
'about 8 days; 2) at ages of 73
-02 and 109-141:days,-the basal-metabolic rates'
W
measured at 300 are significantly lower in the underfed rat; 3) body tempera I
'ture in neutral (300) and cool (200) environments was lower in theunderfed
rat; at'an ambient temperature of ~-50, there ims,-,no difference in body tem-1
perature between the two groups; 4) the effect of prolonged underfeeding
on heat production and body temperature is due to a change in the regulatoz~
mechanism; 3).at the age of 216-245 days, tb~e difference in heat production
and body temperature, observed earlier,.disappears although the difference.,'
in wdight oontinues'to Increase'. Origo art, has- fo-ri
