TITLE: Vapour Phase Purification of Benzole from Sulphurous
Compounds in a Stream of Coke Oven Gas with a Fluidised
Bed Purifying Agent

ABSTRACT: Purification of benzole from sulphurous compounds by
passing It through a fluidised bad of a preliminary
activated Krivoy Rog ore in a stream of coke oven gas at
a temperature of 400-5000C, was investigated on a
laboratory scale apparatus (fig). The activation of
the ore consisted of a treatment with sodium hydroxide
and subsequent reduction to Fe and FeO in a stream of
coke oven gas. The consuinDtion of sodium hydroxide
amounted to 7% of the weight of the ore. The results
obtained are given in the table. For comparison,
purification of benzole in a stream of pure hydrogen was
also carried out (results are given in the table). it
was found that purification of benzole from carbon

thiophene a longer contact t1me with the purifying mass
is necessary. The required degree Of D11rity of benzole
for synthetic purposes could be t~btainsd in the
laboratory apparatus by repeated passage through the
fluidised bed until a total contact time of 6.4 seo, is
obtained. There was no material difference between the
degree of purification of benzole La a strean of pure
nitrogen or coke oven gas. Purifying properties of the
contact mass can be regenerated by oxidation in a stream
of air and steam at a temperature of 500-6000C and
subsequent reduction in a st.ream of coke oven gas.

Abstract: [Author's English summary modified] The administration of a test
dose of 5 mg curare at the beginning of anesthesiagiven simultaneously
with the head-elevation test, provides an indication of the cur-are sensitivity
of the patient and may lead to the detection of a latent myasthenia gravis
or bronchial cancer. The head elovation test, performed at the conclusion
of the surgical intervention provides exact information whather or not the
patient is still under the effect of curare or some other relaxant. This
simple test,which can be performed safely without any equipment,may prevent
numerous severe and perhaps even fatal complications. All 7 references are

A patient had had hepatitis in the 2nd week of pregnancy. She was delivered of a
child with anencephaly. Another patient had had hepatitis at the very beginning of
her pregnancy. She was admitted to the department with missed abortion early in
the 4th month of pregnancy. A dead, colliquated foetus 7 cm. long was removed
from the uterus. Apart from hepatitis. in the history no disease or other cause
was mentioned by either of the patients, which could have been made responsible
for the malformations. In spite of this, mainly on the basis of data in the literaturo.
it Is not recommended to induce abortion because of Infectioud hepatitis contract-
