ABSTRACT: The method consists of transferring CNI into CNS' and

minutes with 0.2 ml of (NH ) Sn and 5 ml of a 10% solution
of CdC12. The mixture is fiftered and the filtrate is
transferred into a 100 ml measuring flask to which 10 ml
of 58-60% nitric acid 5 ml of 10% solution of FeCl is
added. The solution so obtained is diluted with distilled
water to 100 ml and after standing for 30 minutes th'e
intensity of colour is measured using a green filter. For
comparison, a blank determination is made. It is claimed
hat the method gives satisfactory results (see Table).

Gas Desulphurisation Plant by the Sodium Arsenate Method (Korroziya

PFRIODICAL: Koks i Khimiya, 1958, Nr 6, pp 44-48 (USSR)
ABSTRACT: An excessive corrosion of the gas purification plant necessitated
a thorough investigation of the problem. This was carried out in
two directions: 1) studies of the state of the apparatus and pipe-
lines in order to discover parts which were attackei by corrosion
and the nature of the damage; 2) observations of the state of
specimens of materials and protective coatings submitted to the
action of a corresponding media. On the basis of this work some
measures to prevent corrosion were taken. In the paper the results
of the work which was carried out are described in some detail. it
was found that the degree of corrosion depends on the concentration
of sulphur compounds in the gas and on the gas throughput.
Card 1/2 When the plant is overloaded in respect of the gas throughput,
corrosion becomes so intensive that in a very short time the plant
has to be stopped (as was the case in the Zhdanov Plant where the
second part of the plant was not ready on time). The most intense
corrosion was observed in stationary places where no stirring action

takes place, in the places of the highest concentration of hydro-
gen sulphide in the solution (bottom parts of scrubbers) and of
electrically welded joints. When designing new plants the follow-
ing preventive measures are recommended: a) protection coatings of
the bottom part of the scrubbers and regenerators; b) electrically
welded joints where possible should be made from both sides (out-
side and inside); c) parts of the plant submitted to the action of
a corrosive solution (overflow pipes of spray coolers, air bubblers
in regenerators, etc.) should be made from low alloy stainless
steels; d) beams supporting hurdles should be made of larger di-
mensions so as to providl some reserve for corrosion; e) connecting
pipes welded into the gas mains and Into scrubbers should be made
Card 2/2 from thick walled tubes etc. The degree of stability of some types
of special steels and coatings was established. There is one table.

ABSTRACTi Corrosion on the by-product plant of the Zhdanovsk
Works operating with the creosote absorption oil is
discussed. The resistance to corrosion of various
materials in the benzole column was tested. The
results are given in table 1. It was found that
aluminium is the most corrosion resistant material
for the protection of distillation columns and tanks
for hot and cold debenzolised oil. Tubes from steels
EYalT and Khl8Nl2MZT are stable in the mother liquor
of ammonium sulphate plant. Faolite pipeline and
fittings are acid and corrosion resistant but

ABSTRACT: This Author's Certificate introduces a refrigeration unit which uses a two-
:component coolant. The device contains a compressor for the two-component vapor, a
;water- or air-cooled condenser where the high-boiling component is liquified a vapori-I
!zing condenser for liquefaction of the low-boiling element by vaporization of the high-
:boiling component, a vaporizer for cold producti.on and regenerated heat exchangers in
!which both components are recooled. The overall dimensions are reduced and the power
Jndices are improved by using a booster at the input of the compressor for compressing
;the vapor of the low-boiling component.

ABSTRACT: The authors study the effect which the number and distribution of crystal'
lattice defects have on dissociation of a solid solution of interstitial impurities
in molybdenum. The density and distribution of dislocations in cast molybdenum are
detcrmined principally by the parameters of the crystallization process (the lute of

Xystallization, temperature gr4idient in the liquid and solid metal etc. ). An x-ray

BSTRACT: From a. study of the phase diagram Of the system it is evident
bat, witik a high rbenium content in the alloy, there is formed a large
rain chemical compound (EK-pbase) which makes mechanical working
ifficult. Therefore, the present investigation was limited to pure

ercent rbenium, The starting materials for production of the alloys
'ere molybdenum powder and ammonium perrbonate, A mixture of molybdenum
itb a calculated amount of ammonium perrbenate was reduced in a stream

Mechanical working of the alloys containing up to 30% of the alloying
additive was analogous to that commonly used for molybdenum. The
dependence of the electromotive force of the thermocouples on temperatur
for gifferent alloys of molybdenum and rhenium was determined up to
1800 C, A platinum-platinum rhodium thermocouple was used as a controls
Results are exhibited In a series of curves. The thermoelectric and
mechanical properties of the thermocouples are listed In several large
tables. It Is concluded that thermocouples made of molybdenum-rbanium
alloys can be used for temperature measurements in hydrocarbon media,
for a limited time, not exceeding 1 to 2 boural at temperatures up to

TEXT: Experimental methods are described using an ultrasonic me-
thod for preparing the triple vaccine (T) TAB, an inoculative pre-
paration serving as a culture for three organisms: Typhoid and
paratyphoid fever A and B. Preparation of T was carried out with
vaccinal growths of several types (3) of each of these organisms.
Originally, the properties of the vaccinal growths were studied,
from which microbe suspensions were prepared. In order to compare
the results of ultrasonic method of inactivation with existing me-
thods, each growth was divided into 3 parts: One part was sounded,
another was treated by 0.3% formalin, the third was heated for

the transmitting surface of the vibrator. The morphologic and se-
rologic properties of the growths were checked. The immunity and
toxicity of the suspensions and T were studied. Investigation of
immunity was carried out on mice. The sounded suspensions in com-
parison to the formalin preparation or the heated preparation
have increased immunity. T sounded with subsequent heating in com-
