1. On 20 August 1950s Yugoslav officials scattered political propaganda
material, printed in both Serbo-Croatian and Bulgarian, in the pullman
cars of the Orient Express on the Belgrade to Dragoman (Bulgaria) run,,
2. In Dragoman an unidentified Bulgarian captain, in charge of a local
militia unit, stated that Yugoslav authorities have been placing propaganda
material in the trains for some time. He declared that the Bulgarians
are contemplating prohibiting Yugoslav train conductors from entering
Bulgarian territory because on one of the recent trips of the Orient Express
a huge pile of propaganda material was found in one of the cars,
3. The captain further stated that Yugoslav troops which had been stationed on
the Bulgarian border in July 1950 were transferred in August to the Hungarian
border.
