been developed for contact and contactless commutations of activating circuits (see

transistor is compensated by a germanium diode (D) which is connected to the base

circuit. The reverse current of the diode is equal to the reverse current of the
collector or of the thermistor with 320-kohm resistance. The operational stability
of the described circuits was demonstrated at temperatures up3to 55C. The operacing
threshold of the circuits corresponds to a light beam of 10 Em. The circuits are
not critical to the application of various transistors (even those with low 8). In-
dividual selection is only required for the compensating diode. The described
circuits can be used in various automatic control and recording devices. Orig. art..

Beloyarsk atomic electric station, with nuclear superheating of the
steam. The rating has been increased to 200 MW by changing over
from two-loop to single-loop operation and by modifying the working
channels. The use of trans-critical parameters will improve the
heat transfer and hydrodynamics of the coolant flow and, together
with the use of Bingle-pass construction will make ratings of 800--
1000 MW possible. Burnup rates of 40--45 thousand MW-day are pro-
jected with 5% enrichment. Other topics discussed are possible
interchangeability of fuel elements, optimal fuel element construc-
tion, optimal channel arrangement, and possible improvements in the

ABSTRACT; An anal sis is made within the framework of the theor of s11.111()w

shells, of the maximum deflection of a shallow shell with linear disti-lbution of
temperature over the thickness of the shell. It is assumed that both the el.istir
properties and coefficient of linear expansion of the shell depend on thu shell's
average temperature. By using the method of "successive heatings", similar to

No. 12, 16562), the solution of the system of nonlinear equations is reduced to a
successive integration of systems of linear equations with variable coefficients.
The latter are solved by the Bubnov method with representation of the deflection
and the force function by a double trigonometric series. The calculation of one
step for a flat panel with a double curvature is given. The results obtained from
the calculation of the panel, in consideration of changes in the modulus of the
material- as a function of the temperature are presented. Bibliography has

TITLE: An Installation for Testing the Elements of Electro-
Magnetic 0scillographs (Ustanovka dlya poverki

ABSTRACT: Electro-ma6petic oscillographs are widely used. 4'hen
the elements have been repaired it is necessary to test
them and it is inconvenient and time-consuming to do
this on the actual oscillograph. Accordingly a simple
apparatus has been developed for the purpose. As the
most widely-used oscillographs are type MPO-2 made by
the "Vibrator" Works and imported oscillographs
manufactured by Siemens, the test rig was designed
accordingly. Tables 1, 2 and 3 give technical data
of the elements for these types of oscillographs. The
properties that must be tested are sensitivity,
frequency-characteristics and loop and coil resistances.
These determinations c,.Lri all be made on the rig. The
optical system is first described with reference to i,"Lg 1.

given in Fig 2. It is mainly a switching circuit with
provision for connecting a si6ual-frequency pnerator,
a frequency meter, an ohmmeter, a batteryanJor an
alternating current supply; variable resistors are
provided for calibration purposes. An outline drawing
of the equipment is given iii Prig 3 and a photograph in
Fig 4; the construction and arrangement are described
in some detail. The overall dimensions are 600 x 450 x
230 mm. It is claimed tnat tne instrument has proved
to be simpie and reliable in service. Ti,ere are

Abstract The enzootic occurrence of rabies in 4-6 months old calves
is described. The disease started following the appearan-
ce, on the pasture on which the calves grazed, of a steer
affected by rabies which profusely wetted the grazing
ground, though he did not bite any calves. As a result of
the disease, 27 calves were lost. In all affected calves,
the course of disease was atypical. The animals lost
