Legislative Counsel
1. I informed Mr. Kirkpatrick that Mr. had resigned25X1A
from CIA for personal reasons and that Mr. Ofather had brought the25X1A
matter to the attention of Senator Duff in order to determine the cause for
25X1A resignation. Mr. had seen a member of Senator Duff's staff and has
assured them that it was merely his desire to resign and hopes that they will
take no further steps in the matter.
2. Mr. Simms of Senator Humphrey's office told me that the Senator
continued to be concerned about the necessity of a central point in the Govern-
ment for information on the Soviet Union. He feels that the Senator may wish
to call me and ask me to outline the current organization responsible for this
activity.
3. The special Senate Appropriations Subcommittee hearing of the CIA
budget, scheduled for today, has been postponed.
4. Mr. Frank Schroeder of the Staff of the Immigration Subcommittee
of the Senate Judiciary Committee informed me that much of the security
