SUBJECT: Status of the Soviet Atomic Energy Program.
1. As requested by you, we have prepared a proposed draft of
a reply to an inquiry from the Executive Secretary of the Joint
Committee on Atomic Energy.
2. This draft has been approved by the Acting Assistant
Director for Scientific Intelligence and the Deputy Director for
Intelligence. It is requested that,if any substantive changes are
to be made, the matter again be referred to these officers.
