Called Frank Slatinshek, Acting Chief Counsel, House Armed Services Committee, to say that the Director had another commitment and Colonel White will appear before the full Committee in support of our retirement legislation on 16 December. Slatinshek said that unfortunately he had already sent out a notice to the Committee members indicating the Director himself would appear, and he assumed that if Colonel White appeared in his stead we could explain the Director's unavailability. Slatinshek said a Democratic caucus was scheduled for 0830 on the morning of the 16th and therefore he had rescheduled our appearance for 10:30 a. m. He said even this time. might have to be slipped back if the caucus was delayed. 25X1 JOHN M.
