Approved For Release 2005/03/15 : CIA-RDP66B00403R000100360045-1 Attached is a copy of the Central Intelligence Agency paper entitled "Soviet Economic Problems Multiply. " This paper was written after the NEW YORK TIMES article of 8 January 1964 focused attention on the subject, The NEW YORK TIMES and other news services had queried the Central Intelligence Agency on the subject and, since most of CIA's information on this subject was from unclassified sources, the information was given to such requestors on an informal, verbal basis.
