The Library Division Intellofax File provides a machine index
to the content of selected intelligence documents and gives quick
reference to available material on a specified subject. It consists
of machine cards on which coded information is punched to indicate
the subject and area coverage of a document. In addition, the title
and source of the document with other pertinent data are reproduced
on the punched cards from the document control mat. Abstracts of
selected documents may also be reproduced on the cards. A machine
run of these punched cards will select those relating to a specified
subject or area, for the use of analysts or the preparation of biblio-
graphies. The information on the cards may be sufficient for some
purposes, or it may serve as a guide to required documents for further
study.
