Dear Admiral Turner:
The General Government Division of the General Accounting
Office is undertaking a self-initiated survey on drug enforce-
ment strategies and accomplishments. So that you can notify
the appropriate offices, I am providing the following information.
During this multi-agency survey, information will be gathered
on the drug problem, drug sources and supply reduction efforts,
including U.S. strategies and efforts internationally and
domestically by Federal, State and local agencies. In addition,
it is anticipated that much of this work will be historical in
nature and will include program accomplishments. No overseas
work is planned at this time.
Anticipating a late March start, the survey will be
performed by our Los Angeles regional staff--Pat Gormley and
Tom Repasch--and our staff from our headquarters office--John
Chunta and Pat Haynes.
