2. Mr. Primmer with the Frederic A. Praeger Publishing Co. says there
simultaneous publication of Milovan Djilas a book, "Thee New Class"
in Europe and in the C.S. They plan to have the book published initially
only in the U.S., the first issue being 12 August 1957? They have made arrang-
ments in England where. it will be published in October. They are new com-
pleting arrangements with Germany. HI says however, that extracts from the
book will have hee made public in Europe because Radio Free Europe has made
requests for copies of the book as soon as it is published and he believes
they will broadcast excerpts.
3. Harry Schwartz who did the story in today's IW YORK TICS, (copy
attached) said that it is, "a hell of an important book" and he hopes that
if DDilas ever -gets out .of jail and arrives in the U.S. he will be well-
received for the immense good his book is going to do for the free world.
b. I will have Jack Raymond's galley proofs for you next Monday and
by Wednesday I should have galley proofs fast Praeger.
