MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Project Director
SUBJECT: T-33 and U-2 Checkout
1. In line with I Icomments reference revision of
the plan for checkout of Operations people in the U-2, the following
are a few rough comments referem a scheduled checkout to be conducted
ati
2. In view of the fact that it is expected that only one T-33
and one U-2 will be used for this purpose, it is felt that the schedule
of persons should be limited to one a week. By so doing, it should
work out that each individual would be flying the T-33 the first week
and the U-2 the following week. Thus, a one week overlap will avoid
having not more than one person flying either type at any one time.
Although the exact number of hours which will be devoted to flying
the T-33 in preparation for flying the U-2 cannot definitely be
stated, it is expected that approximately ten hours should be suffi-
cient. Of course, this matter will be at the discretion of the person
responsible for the checkout. It is then expected that each individual
will receive a minimum of three flights in the U-2.
3. Unless circumstances terfere, it is desired that
the first individual report tol on 11 March and the following
named persons on each succeeding Monday.
