Floating dock (LOA approx 330', maximum beam approx 95'). This dock is occupied by two submarines (indicated by annotation 2 below). See annotation 1, 2. Two probable "F" Class SS in floating dock (LOA of each approx 300'). The identification of these submarines is based on their overall length and the presence of a slightly bulbous bow on each. The horizontal sta- bilizers of the inboard submarine can be seen. Scaffolding is present around both of the submarines. A floating crane is working in the area of the after portion of the outboard submarine. 25X 25X 25)( Large unidentified floating object alongside quay. This object is basically rectangular in shape with thick, high walls. It is positioned on a rectangular float or pontoon that measures approx- imately 170 feet by 90 feet. The overall length of the object is approx- imately 150 feet and it is approximately 75 feet wide. The two side walls are straight and parallel with a slightly curved wall connecting them at the west end. The east end is closed by a wall that is somewhat pointed in the center. Although height measurements were not obtained, this object, when viewed in stereo, appears to be higher than the float- ing dock at annotation 1 above. The area within the walls of this ob- ject appears to be empty. The function of this object is unknown; however, there is construction on the south end of the Kirovskiy Bridge (located approximately 32 rim. up to Neva River); it is possible that this object is associated with that project. 4. "F/Z" Class SS alongside quay (visible waterline length approx 290'). 5. Probable "F" Class SS (visible waterline length approx 290') moored out- board of submarine indicated by annotation 4 above. A slightly bulbous bow, characteristic of an "F" Class SS, is visible on this submarine as are the extended bow planes. An unusual round, bright object, probably for. weather protection (measuring approximately 25X1 in diameter), is positioned above the sail. Outboard of this submarine are probable floating screens. Unidentified possible floating workshop moored alongside quay (LOA approx 315'). 5X1' See annotation 4, 7. Unidentified possible floating workshop (visible length approx 325'). This vessel appears to be the hull of an old ship with the superstructure removed. See annotation 5, See annotation 6, 8. Old merchant ship"NOVOSIBIRSK moored alongside quay (LOA approx 450'). 25X1 A. This mission provides the best overhead imagery to this date of the new addition to the "two door" assembly shed (see annotation A 25X1 The line drawing in Figure2 illustrates an overhead (plan) view of the assembly sheds in which the building addition is indicated by a dashed line. This addition measures approximately 110 feet in length. It is basically the same width as the "two door" shed - approximately 105 feet. As illustrated in the "elevation" views of Figure 2, the height of this addition is roughly 95 feet with the side window/walls extending roughly 70 feet high. The overall width of the door opening in front is approx- imately 95 feet. This door appears to be composed of three sections (see Figure 3). A row of tall, narrow windows can be seen near the top of the facade on each of the three sides. The approximate 110 foot length of the new addition and the approximate 385 foot length of the old "two door" shed combined provide an overall exterior length of approximately 495 feet. 1. Facility measurements were accomplished by scaling from the known lengths of vessels and objects on the ground. The height measurements used in Figure 2 (Elevation) were derived from ground photography and are con- sidered very approximate. 2. No submarine hull sections could be identified in open areas of the shipyard. 3. The submarine visible on the north side (Schmidt Embankment) of the Neva River has occupied this position on all previous overage. From the overhead imagery and ground photography it is believed that this SS is possibly a museum ship and is of no significant intelligence interest.
