The Drogobych Petroleum Refineries are the Soviet postwar renovations
of the old Polish plants. The study of these refineries was made on all
available photographic coverage for the period,
with emphasis on the identification of major areas and developments
within the installations.
The Drogobych Petroleum Refinery No. 1 (Polmin) is located approximately
1.5 nm east of the center of town at the approximate geographic coordinates
49 21N - 23 33E and is adjacent to the railroad yards and shops (Figures 1
through 4). The plant is triangular in shape with dimensions of its perimeter
approximately 3,000 feet on each side and is orientated northeast/southwest.
It is served by road and the Drogobych - Sambor Railroad.

The refinery was operational lI however, since then major con- 25X
struction and expansion has taken place. Coverage Ishows
the renovated Polish Refinery, Polmin (Figure 12). five new
finished products tanks (c) were constructed southwest of the waste water
separators and four probable crude storage tanks (h) had been added to the
northeast section outside the old perimeter (Figure 11). Also in the northern
section of the plant along the rail line there were ground scars and the
beginning of new construction (i).
The four probable crude storage tanks had been secured from the rest of
the plant and the new construction was in the middle stage of completion on
coverage of (Figure 10), r __J the new section appeared

to have been completed but its function could not be identified (Figure 13).

The Drogobych Petroleum Refinery No. 2 (Galicja and Spolka) is located
2.5 nm southwest of the Polmin Refinery at the approximate geographic
coordinates (29 20N - 23 29E). The plant consists of three sections - two
of these being the old Polish refineries, Galicja. and Spolka, and the third,
a new section. Approximate measurements are as follows (Figure 6):

The orientation of the Galicja and Spolka Plant is east/west. It is
served by road and a. spur of the Drogobych - Sambor Railroad.

The plant wa.s operational and since then major construction and
expansion has occurred. Coverage shows the renovated Polish
plants, Galicja and Spolka. (Figure a distillation and 25X1
light ends unit (m) and fourteen crude storage tanks (k) were observed to
be in late stages of construction. A dry, probable waste pond was noted at
25X1 the southwestern end of the new construction (Figure 7). No apparent change 25X1
in facilities was noticed within the plant area on photography
however, the probable waste pond appeared to be in use (Figure 25X1
25X1 On photography of the area for expansion at the Galicja
plant had been secured and new construction had begun (1). Construction
activity has been noted in the Spolka. refinery However,
poor quality and small scale of the photography precluded identification of
this activity.

Figure 14 shows petroleum storage pits to the southeast and southwest
of the Drogobych complex. They are rectangular in shape and have approximate
dimensions of 600 feet by 300 feet.
