Not all persons residing in the regions near the Yugoslav-Rumanian border were evacuated. the evacuation order was aimed primarily at the remova ro ssensit ve areas of "unreliable" foreign elements. 2. Evacuees were taken to the Baragan?Ialomita sector where they were compelled to live in the fields or wooden shacks with only the poorest of facilities... Evacuation of this border area was completed about 25 July 1951. Crops ineracuated areas were being harvested by Rumanian soldiers who now lived in the homes of the evacuees, 4o About nine kilometers outside Bucharest, to the left of the main road leading to Ploesti, there was a group of about 40 searchlights used for spotting aircraft. Another group of 25 to 30 searchlights was located in the Cernica forest, near a monaster_, off the Bucharest-Olt nita road. The diameter of these searchlights was 1.25 to 1.50 meters, there was an important ammunition dump at Budesti, about 30 kilometers outside bucharest on the 0 ltenita Road. 6. near Budesti,l INFORMATION , ,3' RT daily between three and four trains heading for Budesti.
