The series is being coordinated, published and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group, the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production Center 1P1c (DIA). The photographic analysis for this particular re- port was performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group. In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not observed both its title and letter designator are omitted in the report. Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as follows: (A) railroad service, (B) road service, (C) landing strips, (D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am- munition storage areas, (G) POL storage areas, (H) other buildings and facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields, (L) small army firing ranges, (M) driver training areas, (N) tank/ assault gun firing ranges, (P) flat trajectory firing ranges, (Q) artillery emplacements (batteries), (R) infantry or combined arms field train- ing area or courses, (S) special training facilities, (T) unidentified facilities or tracking activity. 25X1 TOP SECRET TOP SECRET 25X1 25X1 GRODNO ARMY BARRACKS EAST (53-41N 023-51E) GRODNO, GRODNENSKAYA OBLAST, USSR BELORUSSIAN MD I 25X1 TOP SECRET 25X1 Grodno Army Barracks East is located in the east-central sector of Grodno (53-41N 023-DOE), on the east side of the Grodno Rail Yard (Figure 1). The installation is not rail served. The installation is served b city streets. Headquarters 28th Army 25X1 25X1 is targeted in the 'Bombing Encyclo- pedia in this same location. Other military installations _in the area include Grodno Army Barracks SE (AL-2) located one km SE; Grodno Army Barracks and Depot Neman River South (AL-4) 2 km southwest; Ammunition Storage Area, Grodno SE (AL-5) 2 km south; Grodno Army Barracks Kelbasin (AL-6) 6 km south- west; and Grodno Ammunition Depot Kelbasin TOP SECRET 25X1 SW (AL-7) 8 km southwest. The installation (Figures 2 and 3) covers approximately 140 acres and includes a total of four administration buildings, 16 barracks, 35 storage buildings, 15 support buildings, and four equipment storage /maintenance areas contain- ing eight vehicle sheds and nine maintenance buildings. There are also two athletic fields. 25X1 The aren was covered by KEYHOLE missions 25X1 Comparative analysis revealed the same 25X1 general level of usage over this period with reduced usage during the winter months. No significant changes in the installation were observed. DESCRIPTION OF ANSTALLATION There is no direct tail service for the installation; however, it is accessible by road to a rail yard bordering the west part of the installation. Road Service The installation is served by city streets. Administrative and Troop Housing Areas Area Dl contains four multistory adminis- tration buildings, four multistory barracks and o support buildings. Area D2 has 12 multistory barracks. Track activity indicates both areas are occupied. General Storage Areas Area El has six storage buildings. Area E2 has 12 storage buildings and three support buildings. Area E3 has 11 storage buildings. Area E4 has six storage buildings. Track activity in all areas indicates uti- lization of the buildings. Equipment Storage/Maintenance Areas Area J 1 has one 80- by 30-foot maintenance building. Area J2 has one 300- by 40-foot vehicle shed, two 200- by 60-foot maintenance buildings, one 240- by 50-foot maintenance building and two support buildings. Area J3 has one 480- by 40-foot vehicle shed, three 290- by 40-foot vehicle sheds, two 290- by SO-foot maintenance buildings, two 200- by 40-foot maintenance buildings and two support buildings. Area J4 has one 320- by 40-foot vehicle shed, two 280- by 30-foot vehicle sheds, one 220- by 60-foot maintenance building, and six support buildings.
