The platoon and the company in attack and defense. There is more emphasis on attack than on defense training. 12. `rontte Tray ring scouting, patrols, sentry duty and control. All this training takes place on grounds where a mock frontier has beon improvised) 13, Daily Schedule, C5aO to 1a3.L^O, training; 1600 to 1800, political training; 1600 to 2000, lecture in conference hall and readings from military regulations. 14, Political Training: a few subjects are established in advance and the commanders of the company hold lectures such as government institutions in the People's Democracies; government institutions in the Western countries, Including Yugoslavian structures of the Rumanian People's Republic (BPR) and the USSR Democracies. lae Morale and Political situation: the discipline and the soldiers' morale are very weak. The soldiers do nog respect orders, especially those their sub- officers give. During the five and a half months of training, forty soldiers of one company were given jail sentences for non=execution of orders. Because food is very bad, soldiers have rebelled on several occasions. Bad food was also one of the reasons morale was weakened. There were also cases of brutalities by the commanders. 16,. Oourse on Tactics: after training at the center, the soldiers were distributed to several militery frontier units. One hundred soldiers were selected for a special course on tactics which lasted two months. During the tactics course, the subjects previously taught to all soldiers at the center were repeated in more detail. After this course, the soldiers were sent to tie frontier units as tactical instructors. There were no Soviet instructors, either at the center or during the training. Comment. Apparently Battalion Number 3 is taken in here, since Battalion Number 1 is composed of rifle companies. See paragraph 2, above.
