1. I request permission to take part during the
coming year as a discussant in a series of five or six
restricted small panel meetin s under the aus ices of
meetings on two or three su acts per year. T~ ey are
intended as academic exercises, an opportunity for the
exchange of views of academic, government, and private
persons interested and knowledgeable concerning various
aspects of world events. The views expressed at these
meetings are those of the individuals involved, not of
