SUBJECT: Camp David Summit
1. The President is going to Camp David on Monday afternoon.
He indicated at the NSC meeting that he'll meet separately with each
of the two leaders and then start meeting with them as a. group.
He indicated that he wants, through Brzezinski by Monday night, any
additional materials any of us had for him for the Summit. He wasn't
encouraging these, however, just making a comment.
2. He indicated that he might call an NSC-type meeting during
the Summit, but he also indicated he wanted to minimize the number of
people running back and forth to Camp David. He preferred to use
secure phones and secure facsimile or couriers.
3. Summit participants will take a week from Saturday and
Sunday off. He may have conferences at that time to regroup and plan.
In short, I suggest you keep posted and be available, though I think
the odds of our being called to participate in these policy debates
are probably reasonably slim.

1. Just wanted to let you know that at the NSC meeting in
preparation for the Summit the President, the Vice President and
the Secretary of State in particular mentioned how good this
cartographic supplement was. I handed out copies of it at the
meeting and a good bit of the discussion took place with all members
flipping your pamphlet from map to map as the discussion proceeded.
