IRKUTSK AIRFRAME PLANT NO 39, IRKUTSK, USSR
is located 5 nautical miles (nm)
northwest of the center of Irkutsk, USSR, at
52-25-ION 104-04-1OE (Figure 1). The plant
is adjacent to Irkutsk Airfield Northwest =
I and is served by major roads
ancl. by rail spurs.
When first observed on
the plant's facilities and available
floorspace could not be accurately determined
because of the poor quality of the photography.
Later photography of good quality from =
(Figure 2) shows
the plant containing approximately 2,098,200
square feet of floorspace, with a new addition
to the subassembly section under construction
(item 3, Figure 3). This new addition will
contain approximately 187,600 square feet of
floorspace, which will increase the plant's total
floorspace to approximately 2,285,800 square
feet in the near future.
Irkutsk Airframe. Plant No 39 has been
reported to produce transport-type aircraft.
This is supported by the presence of five CUB
on the parking apron adjoining the entrance
to the final assembly hall (item 1, Figure 3).
The presence of an undetermined number of
fighter-type aircraft at the adjacent airfield
could indicate some production of fighters.
The final assembly hall is sufficiently large
