However, this is due to the fore- shortening effect produced by the long-focal length, aerial view. It actually is more nearly square in ahape. The size of the grid is about 1900' to 21001 in an East-West direction and 1800' to 2000' in a North-South direction. This makes the smaller _internal subdivisions about 1000' by 190' each. Straight line distances to the grid from two locations are as follows: a) From Nithi Actor? - about 1.7 b) Prom Bente, - about 46.5 miles. The road from Honto to Shiranushi is shown on the A.M.S. 1150,000 map (1943) as "improved". From Shiranushi to the grid (about 4.6 miles) it is shown as a *track or trail". In the area covered by the photography it appears as a passable and used unimproved road. The geographic cordthates of the grid are aporoximately 45?55'45" N and 142 04130" w Attached is a sketch of the area, based on the A.M.S. 1150,000 map with the feature located.
