THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1. AMr a long period of prellnlnaxy planning,, work has been started on the
Ggant smelting work at fogilap about eight miles east of Krakow and two
miles southwest of Pleszow. All available living quarters in Icrakov have
been r eer7ed for those employed on the constriction of the plant. Soviet
encgineers have complete control of all planninn and construction althouls
Polish engineers are employed on the project.
2. All the equipment for the plant will be delivered from the USSR which will
take a considerable part of the production. It is felt locaally that the
whole project is to serve, apart from its practical purpose,, as propaganda
showing the industrial and tfochnical strength of the tlSSRO
3. It was decided to constraet the w arks on or near the Vistula with a view to
simpli.t`y water supply.
