This report updates the previous basic reports on the eight major
electric power plants in Klancsu Province, eastern China. The latest infor-
mation used is dated _______________for seven plants and for the
eighth.
Construction has been observed at two of the plants since the previous
reports. At the Shang-hai Wu-ching plant, the boilerhouse and generator
hall addition has been externally completed and a fuel storage tank has been
constructed in the coal storage area. At the Shang-hai Yang-shu-pu plant,
there has been additional construction on the probable boilerhouse section
previously reported under construction. No construction has been observed
at the other two Shang-hai plants, the two Nan-ching plants, the Min-hang
plant, or the Wu-hsi plant. ,
On the latest coverage, six of the eight plants were operating. The
Shang-hai Wu-ching plant was not operating and the Shang-hai Nan-shih plant
did not appear to be operating.

The previously reported addition to the boi lerhouse and generator hall at
Shang-hai Heat and Thermal Power Plant Wu-ching has been externally completed
25X1D since the date of the latest photography used in the previous
repor e a i ion is higher than the rest of the boi lerhouse, probably
indicating that a boiler has been installed which is larger than the other
boilers at the plant.
Two fuel storage tanks have been installed at the south end of the coal
storage area. One of these tanks was completed by and the other
has been constructed since that time. It is not k se tanks are
for standby fuel or whether the newly installed boiler will utilize oil as a
primary fuel. No changes have been observed in the switching yard.
The plant was not operating in as no smoke or steam was
observed.
