Specifically, I am investigating how strategic decisions, in terms of the amount of time and money spent in various state contests, are made. To this end, I will be interviewing the key decision-makers of significant candidates in the 1976 Democratic and 1980 Republican nomination campaigns. This is not a journalistic inquiry; I am not interested in specific personalities or controversies, but rather in the strategic decision-making processes that go on in presidential campaigns. ' I would like to meet with you, at your convenience, preferably between the dates of September 7 and September 16. I will contact your office shortly for the purpose of arranging a meeting.
