this runway was provided with a new concrete Juriace in the sprin;;
of 1952. A large concrete nixing machine was seen at the east-northeastern border If
the airfield. About 50 construction workers were also observed there on several
days,

1. Prague-Efbely airfield (0 51/L 89) southwest of Kbely covered an area of abou-i.
20200 x 1,003 meters? Its soil is loaner, and the landing, field had a grass cover.
The installation was surrounded by a wire fence 2 meters hig;l,s, and alozk! the
Pragrue-.:lads Poleslav (0 511B 02) highway it was protected against observation by
a thick hedge. In the extension n,f the old runway, the field sloped sli-:htly torvard
east-northeast in the direction of the railroad line. Hounds of earth and large 25X1
quantities of sand to be used for the ext :nsion o the old rune ay, which v s about
1,!00 meters lon;; and 50 meters wide, were seen there,
2a All the buildings of the installation had been erected on its west-northwestern
border along the Prague-N1a'a Boleelav road, Beginning at t.'le south, the first
building was a flat-roofed structure about 80 meters long a;nd 8 rk:ters wide, the
second and third were two hangars with iron vaulted roofs., one 30 meters long and
16 motors high, the other 20 meters long and 12 motors hi,*,h. There was a third
hangar after a gap of about 120 meters. This structure, which consisted of three
sections, was 63 iaotsrs long and 12 meters hiryh, After the latter h agar we o two
other buildings, which apparently housed workshops, Aircraft,, some of Tthieh were
covered with tar?auli_ns, wore soon parked in front of theta Concrete aprons were
available in front of all the hangars and the latter two 1uildings., On the west
side of the road, there -gas a circular water tower about 25 Deters high? To four-
story barracks buildin:;s occupied by air force person:tel and guarded by sontrics
who wore grey-blue uniforms were located opposite the nci't'.orn corner of the

3. Aircraft observed at the installation included:
T;Me as .An obsolescent commercial law-vring monoplane fitted with three radial engines
and a three-bladed propeller, The leading edge of the win w.va s tapered and
the trailing edge was straight; the plane had cuI-off :ving ti c? step was
conspicuous in the fuselage aft of the Windom in the nose. The craft was
fitted with a single rudder assembly and a tail .heel, and. a pearod to be of
all-metal constriction.
