Position of Antiaircraft Artillery Batteries
There are three main AA battery emplacements at Pizen: one at Plzen-
Litice, one at Plzen-Radeice, and the third, whose exact location is un-
known, at Plzen-Borg.
1. Plzen-Litice Emplacement
Located just southeast of the Plzen-Litice road. Its exact position
is that indicated Observation of the Litice
road is very difficult because the terrain slopes down very abruptly and is
partly concealed by thickets. It is therefore possible that-the description
which follows is incomplete. This entire target is enclosed by a 1tice-
work enclosure about 2.5 meters high. The emplacement is accessible by
at the entrance to the emplacement
A guard post is located
one-story wooden hut, 4X4 meters. The informant saw no other buildings,
but observed the following weapons and equipment:
2 AA guns with muzzle brake, installed on a concrete base
and camouflaged with netting.
2 AA guns without muzzle brake, with long barrel, caliber estimated
concrete emplacement.
4 guadruple-mounted machine guns of the German Vierling type
located at the center of the emplacement.
A radar installation with a metal, wbe-shaped base, 3X3X2 meters; its
antenna [screen?] is 5 meters in diameter; the informant never saw it turn.
3 AA searchlights heir location is only approximate,
because the informant observed them at night.

2. Plzen-Radcice Emplacement
Two AA battery emplacements, east and north of Radcice.
Eastern emplacement:
consists of 5 guns with muzzle brake at the edge of the forest and 2 German
88's in traveling position, coupled to V35 or Tatra III trucks.
Northern emplacement: 1 German 88
in firing position and 2 German 88's in traveling position, conpled
to V35 on Tatra III trucks; equipment neither camouflaged or covered with
tarpaulin.
3. Probable Emplacement at Plzen-Bo
This emplacement must be located near the south-southwestern side
of the Bory area, partly in the so-called Borsky Lesik forest, between the
DobrarW and Bory airfields. The informant heard the sound of gun shots
coming from this area fired in conjunction with the Litice battery. The
informant also observed AA searchlights located in this area and coordinat-
ing their beams with those emanating from the searchlights of the Litice
battery. He also saw men quartered in tents in the forest, about 100 meters
west of the Plzen-Dobrany road.
AA Barracks
1. Na Slovanech Barracks
There were six 88-mm AA guns in traveling position, parked in
the courtyard of the barracks. The men were AA shoulder straps.
2. New AA Barracks at Vochov
Set up in a former metallurgical plant in Vochov, between the
railroad and the Plzen-Stribo national iighway, 1100 meters northwest of the

Vochov railroad station The village of
Vochov is located about 2.5 kilometers southwest of Radoice, where two
AA battery emplacements are reported to be located. The plant was requisi-
tioned by the army in fall 1953 and converted to barracks during the
following year. The work having been completed in fall 1954, the plant
was occupied by an AA battery 70 to 80 men strong. In October 1955, this
AA unit had more than 200 men under the command of a major.
